abx321203yThis journy of mine to become a web dev is starting to become difficult, because I work offshore and the internet on the rig won't allow me to use sites such as freecodecamp, Oden project or codeacadamy....
And I'm strongly considering leaving this work and self studying full time. And it just feel reasuring to know that there are Self made devs out there...
Sorry for bad English, I'm actually Afrikaans. -
Keanu3503yI learned the web dev stuff via YouTube and then started to do things myself and when don’t know some specified stuff I just go to google it

eo287540063yI am. Following what @brown said, my college taught me theoretical computer algorithms and stuff, but no one ever re-implements binary trees or even sorting algorithms. Some people pay for books or courses online, but YouTube tutorials and the docs are just as understandable and sometimes more useful for libraries in Python, JS, and PHP.
If you're gonna study Java tho, those libraries have somewhat obscure docs in my experience and paid courses might not be such a waste of money. -
Two failed first years at University studying mostly Java is all the teaching I had for my (originally) PHP and now .NET development role.
Coming on 10 years as a professional developer with zero formal education on the subject. -
dattebayo363ywent to college for certificate only

Full time Full stack developer -
You should download MDN and the docs for whatever backend tech you use, if any. I did this with PHP and it worked great, I could work for weeks without internet connection.
-
In all other ways PHP is horrible, but the docs are great and the comment section makes them even better.

dattebayo363y@PyHP this works only if you learning a concept
If you are working on a project you need internet w/o doubt to load CDN's
