Why in the world is the localization function called ‘_e()’ ???

Does anyone know? Why in the world didn’t they go with something as ‘localize’ or ‘translate’ ?

It’s bothering me way more than it should but it’s like seeing a lemon and hearing people call it potato... why? D:

    @IntrusionCM mhhh still bad naming imho, echo does not include the concept of translation, so it’s a bit misleading

    @piratefox misleading... Wordpress....

    *giggles*

    the history of wordpress is I think proof that wordpress definitely is one of the reasons PHP has a bad reputation.

    Don't know if it's still a latrine on fire, but it definitely was one during PHP 5 times.

    @IntrusionCM just finished making my first theme for it for one of my clients. Lost 60 IQ point in the process. It's definitely a main contributor for the bad rep for php. What a PoS
