I hate developing for iOS. So many certificates here and there for simple things. And to top it all off, sometimes, you get people reviewing your app that say you can't upload to the App Store for stupid reasons. Does anyone feel the same way?

For a company that has hacker roots, it's surprising they are controlling and dictating what content is distributed to about 40% of the mobile market.

I always joke that 80% of making an iOS app, is figuring out all of Apple's and Xcodes various crap

@gustash I used to feel that way, but MS has done a lot of cool stuff recently! they used to fall under the "these are my toys and nobody else can play with them without paying us loads of money" category, but recently:

Acquired Xamarin, made it free with any level subscription of visual studio.

Community editions of visual studio are on par with the previous pro editions

.net is going open source

mono is going open source (thanks to Xamarin)

They're currently suing the U.S. government for the right to tell customers when convenient agencies accessed their data.

@lreading I agree, but I still don't like how they neglect Linux (even though they say they love it). Where is my Xamarin Studio for Linux? Oh right, not there. Where is Corrina for Linux/Mac OS? Yeah, not there. Where is my choice to update to Windows 10? Yeah right, I got a call from my grandpa saying that his computer was updating to Windows 10 after he said he didn't want it to.

Microsoft may seem changed on the surface, and it kinda is, but they have a long long LONG way to go until I can call them "cool".

The mobile dev environment must be cleaned up, simplified and improved - and I believe it will be. I know lots of people dislike cross platform tools but there may be hope for a good player.

As far as Microsoft, they had some nice dev environments that performed well and were fun to use.
