Annoyingly other domain name extensions aren't much loved yet I hope it happens but most stick to .Com and their country extension

You can't get a .com domain now a days.. it's either taken or fucking expensive.. they call them premium domains.. but you can get some with others TLDs and as .io is getting some popularity, it sounds like a domain to some non-tech guys too

Io is often used for api driven services where the customer often is other websites or web applications.

But yes it is expensive.
