I got a LinkedIn message from the HR from my previous company about a job opening as if I never existed and never met them before. I'm just a profile to them.

Stupidity level: HR

    I kid you not, this happened in my previous company,

    HR messages me on LinkedIn for a QA role in my product and in my fucking team.

    We were not hiring anyone.

    And moreover, even if we were, how dumb the HR must be that they didn't recognise me as an existing employee which was clearly mentioned in my profile.

    Happened to me, too. Back when I worked in IT support, I started as a contract employee working for a staffing agency, then was hired on full time by the company I was contracted out to. Working for the staffing agency sucked. I was paid hardly anything and the benefits were nearly nonexistent. A few months later, I got a message on LinkedIn from a recruiter from the staffing agency, looking to hire me to work in the same position, for the same company, that had hired me away from them.

    @Floydimus okay, you obviously win.

    @Floydimus that proves that some recruiters are recruiting for jobs that don’t exist. They exist as much as a brain exists in their thick skulls

    @TeachMeCode there's an entire industry around that.

    You would have often came across an opening asking for 25 years of experience of Go Lang where in reality the language only exist for couple of years.

    Those are some fake openings to showcase to management and more importantly government that there are not many applicants that fit the role and hence they source cheap resources from countries like India. This is done by sourcing actual resumes. Hence, many times you don't even hear a rejection from such corporates.

    I myself was promoted that way very recently. They published an opening and we got few resumes and my manager asked me to polish my resume with fancy keywords which matched the job description even when I did not have any direct relevant experience. Then my manager and VP took it too HQ in US and put forward my case giving me 100% raise + a promotion. This was done to retain me when dive and save was maximum of 30% raise when an employee resigns.

    That once happened to me. Got an email from a recruiter at my old company (to be fair I don’t think he worked there when I did) to work on the system that I wrote.

    @Floydimus I don't understand the purpose of such a limit. As a general rule, yes. As an unbreakable rule, you would be making the assumption that there is no inexpandable worker, which is a rather stupid assumption to make.

    @homo-lorens funny thing is, I had a job offer with 200% raise because I was underpaid.

    My VP told me they can't go beyond 100% because that's the policy.

    I said, as per the policy, I shouldn't be this underpaid and moreover, even after 100% raise I didn't touch the base of what the salary band was as per tHaT PoLiCy.
