Finally got round to signing up to a VPN for my devices and my sons. After a lot of research decided on surfshark, signed up for 3 years with great discounts. BUT, it doesn’t work on iPhone ( tried everything in the help) still bollox. Cancelled it and went for my second choice which was Nord. The software is great. Worked without issue, same on m1 mac. Thousands of servers worldwide. For me this is great and fast. So if you are looking for a fast reliable VPN Nord is the one. PS not affiliated or work for Nord, just an opinion and hopefully save someone else some grief.

Or you could have set one up by yourself with no monthly charges.

@Floydimus if you're using a VPS then you'll pay for it anyway.

If you're not fussy about location, AWS Lightsail is $3.50/mo

NordVPN is still super sketchy, just like any other VPN provider, except maybe mullvad.

Is this post sponsored by NordVPN?

Im still of the opinion that having a "public VPN as a service" completely defeats the point of having a vpn. The private data of all these people are just centralized and everything goes through an additional node. The only advantage it gives you is the location bypass... Otherwise, when using from trusted networks at home, https is covering your security much better already... And when connecting from public wifis, just don't do your banking on public networks at all.
