!dev but why can't I use messenger services like WhatsApp or Telegram in the browser without my phone powered and connected? Why are both services still so popular anyway?

    The browser is less invasive.

You have gps location, you have a microphone, sensors, Bluetooth data, you name it on a phone.

A browser on the other hand, you have a browser and an ip.

WhatsApp is the only major culprit of this crime I know, and it's rightfully so, being the most mainstream, shittiest and from a past age messenger service

Only the fact that you need the phone to have constant internet connection should be the deal-breaker for a lot more people

If things were popular based on their efficiency and correctness, we would live in a much better world
