Hi everyone

I have a pretty old sansui tv in my room that I lost the remote for ages ago. I would like to remotely control the TV without having to buy the actual remote for the specific model (which is ~$28). Any ideas on how I can find the remote codes for the tv so I can program my own remote? Let me know if u guys have any ideas, thanks!!

Possibly not useful to you but there's this app that lets you switch off almost any tv if your phone has an IR blaster https://github.com/42SK/TVKILL

My Samsung tv has a local web server on it that allows remote control over wifi.

I paired that up to a Rpi, an api, and a google home. Who needs remotes anymore 😅

With a better universal remote there's a mode to try a bunch of configs to see which one is working. But those are probably more expensive than the TV is worth. If you have a smartphone with an IR blaster there's apps for that.
