Possible Insight: Is this an issue with people being told during tests in college that they are not allowed to use the internet? So subconsciously they see work as a "test" of their abilities. This translates to them not being able to conceive of using the internet to solve problems they should "just know"?

@Demolishun no. it's caused by education system teaching you to follow instructions on what to do, given by people. so you don't get used to the normal baseline level of initiative.

@Demolishun you may be on to something.
I'll go check wikipe... oh we're not supposed to do that. Nevermind. -
It happened so many times: they called to office…
“Nothing is working!”
“Ok, but what exactly is not working properly?”
“Everything!”
“Is internet connected?”
“Ye..?!? Well it looks like there’s no internet connection here…” -
"figure it out like the rest of us" - expand that methodology to be used from the beginning of humans. Go discover fire and figure out how to catch your own food while finding out what is safe to eat. Id say let us know how you get on, but youd have to do millions of years worth of discoveries within your lifetime to get to where we are now
