I'm very consumed by the world affairs, events, politics, and news. It consumes a big part of my thoughts and mental energy. I really want to stop following and getting consumed by all of this. But, I also want to at least have an idea about what's happening. I truly believe that one should not be neutral and should do their due diligence to find and support the right cause and take a stance (even if by words). It's a difficult balance to achieve.

It’s that or think nothing matters at all and get drawn into their retarded mindset

Even if world affairs are a lie it’s perhaps Better to understand what the lie covers

@AvatarOfKaine no, the "nothing matters at all" mindset is not sincere. Also, the "I'm an activist/warrior/ninja/ defending everyone and going crazy over everything" is not right.

Taking a full break for a week every now and then helps a lot. And so does getting busy with life and stuff.

I'm not sure if I'm actually interested in the news, or it's just another distraction mechanism.

Kinda feels like I replaced checking FB feed with checking news site...

I stopped actively looking at the news and my life is a bit more peaceful and I still know about big events. Local newspapers have more fulfilling content usually. However, I realized though that news is sort of like social media in that makes it’s money on FOMO.

Last winter, I was able to finally detach myself from my daily news scrolling habit, and oh boy, it was blissful. I had a lot less stress and a lot more peace of mind.

Unfortunately, the Russo-Ukrainian war put me right back into my news-junkie state.

But I've learned a few things:

    - Important news is going to reach you anyway (via friends, family, memes, work, etc.), the FOMO is irrational.

    - Most news is simply a different branch of entertainment (like YouTube or TikTok). They prey on your attention and monetize on advertisements, but they offer little to no value or relevance.

    - "Hive-minds" and echo chambers are very real and bizarre things, and they can make people obsessed with issues that have zero relevance to their personal lives.

My approach is to stay neutral no matter what. You can't win in this system of things. Even when people try to do something good, it ends up hurting someone else. Real problems never get solved. I've learned to stop trusting in politicians and people of power because no human has the power to solve mankind's greatest problems
