@Demolishun amazon: the company who share people's wifi through ring doorbells, being in control of my vacuum bot who is equipped with a camera and various sensors? Just as google say they'll let the police check their hardware without warrants?

    LMFAO.

Open it and make sure it doesn't have any WiFi or 3G module.

Fuck... we need to crack the firmware asap as possibru and remove all backdoor NSA Bezos tracking!

@glemiere I get this, but your phone does just as much, if not more spying on you.
  • 6
@Demolishun which is why my phone isn't equipped with proprietary garbage software

@theKarlisK yeaaaah I mean, they don't need a backdoor. They have a database, and they send instructions to your robot via their servers.

The whole thing, just like any closed source tech product, is already rotten. But in Amazon's hands it's becoming Malenia's scarlet rot.

I have to admit though, having a map of Ben Laden's house and knowing where obstacles are would have been useful for the swat or whoever took him down 😂

Maybe the sensor could tell you if his heart is beating.

Maybe you could even tell where he stands and just snipe through. Aaaaaahhh lovely.

Can people just stop with “Big tech”? Like, unless you figure out an alternate to switch most of the world too or make your own I don’t really see the point in complaining as much as we do. It’s a fuckin vacuum. The world has more important things to worry about than building a backdoor to something that’s gonna roll into a pile of shit when someone’s dog goes in the house

@ScribeOfGoD every major changes start with a complaint, deal with it or keep scrolling.

@ScribeOfGoD while I agree somewhat with what you're saying, it doesn't mean we should just accept how privacy is being (or already has been) murdered, and big software companies keep expanding their influence and being more and more invasive and unabashed, because it could become a serious issue.

@Tonnoman but what is really gonna happen from Amazon buying a vacuum? Just because a piece of something has a CPU doesn’t make it smart lol. We need to pick our battles instead of blowing up because the wind went in a direction we didn’t expect. Expect the expected, prepare for the unexpected.

@glemiere as you post on a discussion platform… okie dokie

@ScribeOfGoD it's called devrant and you complain about people's rants, don't lecture me lol
  • 1
@glemiere All these meta rants lol.

Start an open source Roomba firmware with a flashing/sideloading utility (and/or instructions).

If you don't like their code, write your own!

    @Root I'd love to but unfortunately I have a toddler 😂

No problem. Just use an alternative OS and local server for your smarthome appliances.

    F - as in press F?

The company was for most of its life dedicated to the creation of robots to help invade a bunch of countries, and your beef with it is that Amazon may know the layout of your home?

@ars1 you're right, privacy is irrelevant because they make weapons 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
  • 0
@glemiere for you, obviously not. You supported the company up till now just fine.

@ars1 dude if I don't have time to vaccum I obviously don't have time to code my own firmware lmao
