C0D4681382yI can refresh the feed and not crash.
Totally ruined it now, I'll have to use the dR app to get my crash quota 😔 -
This comment is written using AltRant .
There’s no crash. I log with Xcode and the performance increase and the battery usage drop . Better than the previous version.
This is well done. -
C0D4681382y@OmerFlame is there a way to reload the comments on a rant? Given the feed isn't sortable, and pull-down doesn't trigger a reload... am i missing something?
-
@C0D4 you are not missing *anything*, I need to implement this already... another thing to add to the pile of improvements.
-
@johnmelodyme I think you are talking about something different than us.
We are talking about refreshing a rant and its comments. -
C0D4681382y@johnmelodyme iOS16 13Pro is a nada.
@OmerFlame bouncing back to notifications would be ok, but they be crashing hard 😂
Oooh... that was fun, comment box looses all content when it's closed.
Eh, QoL list is growing, I'm sorry.... -
@C0D4 what do you mean by "bouncing back to notifications" and "crashing hard"? Is the notifications screen causing crashes? istg, the notifications screen is the buggiest thing in the world and yesterday I put an extreme amount of effort into debugging and fixing that piece of shit.
-
@johnmelodyme no. We are talking about refreshing the screen that presents a *single rant* and its comments.
-
C0D4681382y@OmerFlame how do I put this nicely..... it's almost as bad as the real deal 😂
I'll reinstall the app and see if that helps. -
@C0D4 I swear that I fixed every bug I could possibly find in that thing, holy shit
-
C0D4681382y@OmerFlame alright, after a new install i managed to get through every tab on the notifs page without issue, I'll see how it goes.
-
@C0D4 I looked at your bug report...
Somehow, you managed to make the app attempt to fetch the profile picture of some unknown user (can't see values in crash report so unknown for now) with an image URL that seems to not exist because the image object fails to initialize with the data returned from the image request, because the data was nil?!
Come on, how the fuck would one of these URLs be invalid?? There is a URL for literally every single avatar customization combination... -
C0D4681382y@OmerFlame someone deleted there account as I loaded the notifs?
Sounds like a JaSe bug 😂 -
@C0D4 no!! The URLs that the API gives you are direct addresses for a PNG/JPEG which is not linked in any way to the user!
In devRant, there is a picture for every single avatar item combination possible. They're all shared between the users.
For example, if 2 users have the same avatar config, they will have the **EXACT SAME** avatar URL.
So, someone how managed to make the app fetch an avatar config that doesn't exist. -
@johnmelodyme The context menu feature in the notification feed is on the horizon, I was planning on implementing such a thing for an eternity at this point but never came around to doing so. I will implement this in the update after the coveted and promised QoL update!
-
C0D4681382y@OmerFlame is there an email or somewhere I can send a list of improvements?
I mean, I could drop them here somewhere.... 😅 -
@C0D4 there is a feedback feature integrated into TestFlight apps.
Long-tap on the app's icon in the Home Screen and tap on "send feedback". Write to me there!

**Attention @johnmelodyme and all AltRant testers**
I just pushed a quick bugfix update to AltRant, in the hope that it will fix the crashes that were reported. I felt like the app's dodgy situation wasn't up to my standard of quality so I worked as fast as I could to fix the issues, as people are actually starting to prefer my app over the original. Please make sure to perform a full reinstall of the app before continuing, because I actually wasn't experiencing the issues described in my initial testing before releasing the update that needed fixing.
