Update on my devRant client SwiftUIRant:

I’m experimenting with some UI changes compared to the official app.

* vote buttons are laid out horizontally and placed above the rant to not waste space on the left side.
* comments count shows 0 comments instead of disappearing.
* rants are not cut off but visible in full length (I plan to add a toggle setting for that)
* creation date/time is present in the feed
* date/time formatter uses the current system region and the language english. So no more awkward American dates for non American users.

What do you think?

    Rant & Comments screen:

    * Again horizontal vote buttons and no indentation for comments to use the space for the actual content.
    * showing number of comments.
    * gray instead of green circles for users that have no avatar.

    Send like you're missing the random crashing and random Chinese characters features. Add those and it's perfect.

    @electrineer will consider it as an option 😉
    On a serious note, not crashing is the highest priority. And I’m very confident that it won’t crash.

    Add sth like tinder. After you read a thread, post, swipe left to remove it permanently from timeline.

    @aviophile Is that a serious suggestion?
    I guess I could filter it out of the feed but afaik there is no way to tell the devRant backend about that. And at some point you wouldn’t see any rants at all in your feed because you have swiped them all away.

    blocking a user could be achieved by filtering out rants and comments from a user locally. Sounds like a good idea.

    Excluding jokes and memes (tag based) is possible also in the official app.

    Not sure what you mean by better tag system.

    @Lensflare we can not block custom tags. “Joke/meme” is devRant’s official tag for jokes but people just tag joke or meme and passes through the blck obviously. What I meant was better tag block system.

    @aviophile ok I see. But I don’t remember instances of jokes or memes tagged properly with something like "joke" or "meme".
    If the "joke/meme" tag is missing, then all the other tags that could identify it as a joke are also missing, mostly.

    But it would be possible to add a custom tag blocklist locally.

    @Lensflare custom block list locally is a nice idea. Can I also ask for a racist feature? Is it possible to geoblock some posts? Serious though…

    @aviophile lol no, the devRant api doesn’t know about the user’s location 😄
    The info in the profile is obviously not reliable.

    How about we, racist people being able to create lists of people to extermina.. i mean block in devRant? List sharing even, imagine that! I want to subscribe to shitposter blocker or memelord blocker lists created by users! 😅

    @aviophile sharing lists of users to block goes too far for me. This should be something personal and private.
