Hazarth95372y"The user no longer has to actively think"
That's exactly what they want, isn't it... don't think, just be a silent machine in our industry.
This is very much like plugging a human as a cog, or in this case a CPU, into a bigger machine and exploiting them for energy and resources without ever considering them a human at all... fucking amazing, I'd like to see who these "proponents" of this tech are... -
Yeah let the whole world know that I am anxious all the time please get out of my head
It's full enough up there with the void that I call brain -
@Oktokolo It sounds like a good idea until you think about bugs and intentional "misuse".
-
@Lensflare No risk no fun. But it could just be a passive input device - so there would be no black ice brain barbeque potential.
-
@Oktokolo yeah I would only try those things if they are guaranteed to be read only.
But since we don’t know how the brain works exactly, it might even be impossible.
If the brain relies on quantum mechanics, then every interaction would also change the state, so no read only. -
@Lensflare Passive BCIs are currently just less expensive EEG devices. They measure voltage differentials on the surface of the skin. I am no physicist, but would expect the "interactions" to have already happened before the brain activity manifests as measurable voltage differentials on the skin surface.
-
@Oktokolo I don’t know either. All I’m saying is: Once the BCIs get good enough to be used by people voluntarily to aid them in tasks or for entertainment or pleasure, they might be advanced enough to cause some horror style harm/damage/pain.
ARE YOU READY FOR WORKPLACE BRAIN SCANNING?
Extracting and using brain data will make workers happier and more productive, backers say
https://spectrum.ieee.org/neurotech...
"What takes much more time are the cognitive and motor processes that occur after the decision making—planning a response (such as saying something or pushing a button) and then executing that response. If you can skip these planning and execution phases and instead use EEG to directly access the output of the brain’s visual processing and decision-making systems, you can perform image-recognition tasks far faster. The user no longer has to actively think: For an expert, just that fleeting first impression is enough for their brain to make an accurate determination of what’s in the image."
