All I'm saying is that if we want speech completely locked down on all social media platforms, simply hire the StackOverflow mods and the problem is solved. Nobody will be able to post anything unless the mods believe it's worthwhile for everyone to read and respond to.

That's it. That's the rant.

    @platypus I tried it for like 20-some posts years ago but quickly lost interest. Getting badges or being smart wasn't enough of an incentive.

    SO can be draconian, yes, but my perspective on that changed when I actually read about what SO *wants* to be, which is a historical archive of questions and answers.

    It makes sense trying to curate a bit what goes in there.

    Otherwise it becomes like your regular forum/BBS, with stickies telling people to "search before posting", and newbs/idiots posting useless questions or their homework.
