Haha, that's nice. I began because I got a computer. What else was I supposed to do with it?

erik40415838yBroke my fathers commodore64 installation when I was 11, afraid for some asswooping I started debugging the thing to make it work again. After that I just played games on it untill I was 14 and got a PC and got introduced to webdev and irc bots, from that day it all went downwards until the point now where I code PHP for a living. Stay in school kids!

RedAnimus808yI found a book on HTML in a library in 5th grade. I wrote out HTML on printer paper, then typed it up on the computer. Seeing HTML come to life right in front of me was incredible. I had to learn more.

long rant;
How did I got into CS?
When I first got my laptop, I put on a password and forgot it. Nobody knew those things at that time around me (most of them, still don't) so I had to pay ₹350 (~$5) for formatting (OS reinstallation).
After a week, I again forgot the password and had no guts to ask more money from my family, because of the fear of getting scolded.
So, I took out the manuals that had shipped with the laptop, read them all. Found nothing.
But, on a very small page, a single line was written, "Insert the disc. Press F12 after pressing the power button".
I intuitively tried it and it worked (I had the OS DVD and no internet).
And I spent the next year experimenting with the windows OS (Vista).
Then tried all the other OSs.
Those were some times..2008..I guess.
Learnt OS without the internet. Nowadays people can't do it even with it.
