Try to figure out what's “on” and what's “off”

I hate this so much. Have it on Android quite often I think.

If the colors don't flip once you move the mouse away, that's "off"

Seems like they are trying to figure out what a battlefield game is

@kiki all settings under ‘other’ are on right?

@robbietoppert Well no based on the color of the hovered element (active) and the difference in contrast between the on and off state, we can deduct that the first one is 'off'.

What happened to the good old "checkbox" UI pattern?

@Grumm all selected states are a solid colour, and are attached to the border of the toggle. Hovering over a row makes the background that blueish colour. I’d assume they simply invert the colour scheme of the toggle to keep it visible.

It is a shit design either way. If there is confusion about the state of a toggle, you can’t expect much of the rest of the product.

@fraktalisman modern games require modern toggle switches 🤡

There is a special place in hell I am sure for all that promoted this ”toggle” component during the years.

My blood pressure literally increases when confronted with these monstrocities.

    Cheers xD

Config Server Firewall I use in Centos as a WHM plugin has a billion of these switches. Not dangerous at all!

@Turu very bad but saved by the redundancy introduced by built-in lights

Toggle the HDR setting to find out

At least it's not a toggle so you can explicitly click the state you want it to be no matter the visual.
If it was a toggle it would be super confusing.

    @hjk101 lol no

it's a toggle, you click anywhere and it toggles

@kiki holy fuck the person that designed that should be banded from any technology.

Now imagine it would use skeuomorphism like the raised/sunken design of the original radio buttons (the physical ones as seen on actual radios of the seventies) - instant readability.

It looks ugly, but a select with on and off as the options works really well at communicating the state of a control.
