@CoreFusionX
They would absolutely do this for more sales. What a giant middle finger to right to repair. -
kiki353492y@vintprox @CoreFusionX I once brought my MacBook 12' to an authorized repair to fix several broken keys, five if I remember correctly. They charged me mere $2.50.
What you say is beyond sad, given MacBook keycaps for pretty much any generation can be ordered off Aliexpress for cheap, and you can replace them yourself. The keyboard disassembles just like on any other laptop, there are many guides on YouTube. MacBook keycaps can be found way easier than keys for some top of the line HP laptop, just because of how popular MacBooks are.
You can shit on Apple however you like, but at least keep your facts straight. -
@kiki
Yeah, and they can and will keep persecuting repair shops for having to rely on shady Chinese sources for spare parts since they won't provide any.
I know my facts, thank you very much, and you may rest at ease, I will keep bashing crapple for all the bullshit they pull 🙂 -
kiki353492y@CoreFusionX fighting the right to repair is wrong on every level, but $2.50 for keycaps in an official Apple-certified repair shop seems like an appropriate price for me. 69 pounds for iPhone X (my phone) battery replacement looks good too.

hjk10156962yYou can program the touchbar to have your favourite a actions there so your keys don't wear out. You are basically the reason they invented that thing

@kiki I remember when I carried 3 spare batteries and could change them out at will.
When phones had buttons and not this Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy level farce of a keyboard. The radio on the bridge of the Heart of Gold is better than this.
Seriously. I haven’t typed a sentence without errors in almost six months. Posting to forums is one of my hobbies, so imagine my frustration.
And if I have to write a time sensitive email for work or something, I’m better off driving home to do it.
But thanks to Apple, this is what we are all stuck with.
C and V keys on my imac keyboard have started fading out
