Indesign is a great tool for web design. You can export as a png at whatever resolution (72) you wish and take accurate measurements. You can also export all the text as a text file. You can get all rgb values for colours from the png. You don't need much else as you will likely recreate most things in CSS. Just ask them to export as a png. They can also export things like logos as transparent pngs or select anything to export independently at different resolutions. Its just that they don't know what the fuck they are doing.

Double-A4348yMost parts of the design can be recreated without images anyway... So should still be doable.

Raghnaid2978yWait, what?
InDesign is used to create fancy documents, books, flyers and restaurant menus. Not for design for websites.
Whyyy -
@helloworld well I wish someone told them that, or even freakin showed me, would've said me a lot of time. Nonetheless InDesign is ideally meant for print design.
-
@JediN1nja it has a web mode that puts measurements in pixels and color to RGB. You can mock up pages seriously fast compared to photoshop and layers. Duplicate pages to create options, copy elements and paste exactly in place on the next page, easy crop and scale images without masks and layers, manipulate type with ease. There is absolutely no need to jump into photoshop. It's only downfall is that designers don't know this or are too lazy to learn even the basics of web design. Its my go to application for layout of any kind.

@helloworld This is another example of Adobe's totally ham-fisted design of their products. Want to do a web design? Fireworks. Anyone remember it? No... Photoshop... NO! Illustrator!! Fuck that... InDesign is where it's at. And if you're a dev expecting a design from some art house somewhere, you haven't a fucking clue what's coming. So you talk your org into buying a CC subscription and then someone sends you a Sketch file. And you cry.
-
@CrankyOldDev My point is you don't need InDesign as it exports to lossless png. Which you can scavenge in any image editing software.
-
@helloworld Yeah, valid point. I kind of went off on one because Adobe drive me bonkers.
