Got a new job as devops.
Got brand new thinkpad on day 0, it was waiting for me out of the interview room.

I think I'll like it here ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Only thing I'm thinking about is if I should continue with doing devops/sysadmin or go back to programming...

Jeez, how everybody misunderstands DevOps nowadays... DevOps is a culture and at its core it means combining development and operations. This new "DevOps Engineer" title should rather read "automation engineer" or "CI + CD + Infrastrucrure admin".

That said there is no choice between "DevOps" and "developing". If you do it right, you do both

Btw, nice notebook and Gratz on the job ;-)

Congratulations, always liked that backlit keyboard on the ThinkPad. Does it also have the overhead light on the lid pointing down?

@Huuugo thanks, and I was explained the same thing as you did now in the interview by the lead of the team ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@querellaMMXII I don't understand what you are talking about, so I guess it doesn't have it

    @penguin its t570

@Nudjialz I'm using linux so I dont know how those settings work, and I had no problems so far ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Nudjialz Hmm interesting. I use linux, so don't have any experiences with windows on the laptop. I'm guessing your laptop has an older tn panel.. what model is your thinkpad?

@juzles Nice. How is the build quality on the t*70 version?

@juzles on one I used to have there was a little LED where the webcam usually is. It was angled down and could be used to light the keyboard from above.

It was activated with the same key as the keyboard back light.

@querellaMMXII yep, mine is a t430 and has both the backlight and the angled led XD

@penguin I like it, I believe its a bit smaller from the previous as there is little space on the sides of the keyboard.
It feels sturdy and very sleek on the outside. The lid isn't flexing almost at all and I cant do enough pressure to make the display lose colors.

The panel has good color from angles only loses brightness. It might feel dim if you like bright screens though.

All keys, touchpad and keyboard feel right. I really like everything about them so far. I can't know exactly for sure if I got lucky and everything is fine for me or they did a good job on the model.

Nice, wish I got tech like that. I end up with pcs dragged from the dark ages.
