So Tesla employees with access to recordings from customer vehicles have been sharing clips internally whenever something "funny" happened. Including nudity, intimacy, stuff inside garages, and crashes. And some even got promoted for doing this.

If there are any Tesla owners here, grab you cock and start waving at your car so they have to watch it. Or if you don't have a cock, borrow your neighbour's one.

Makes you wonder if other companies handling customer footage for labeling or otherwise are much or any better.

Not surprising at all but hopefully this story will lead somewhere.

That is all kinds of fucked up.

Reuters trying to cool their recent assburn, acting like they are objective news source. A lot of axe to grind :)

I was already against electric vehicles. This just makes me realize how messed up that company really is. I wonder if the same thing is going on with cameras on laptops.
  • 6
Well, I guess there's gonna be a policy about no Teslas in secure environments now...
  • 6
    That deserves jail time

@Demolishun Tesla’s bs shouldn’t influence your view on electric cars.

@jeeper I saw the battery replacement cost for a Volt after 80K miles. It was $20K. The cost of maintenance, and the potential dying in a chemical fire are what I don't like. I feel like gasoline is the safer option. Also, batteries don't do well in cold climates.

@Demolishun electric trains are much cooler anyway

@electrineer Like the hover ones in Japan?! Those are awesome!

    I told you.

    Objection hearsay!
Asking a few ex employees about privacy issues is not really a thorough investigation. Not that I'm surprised by on the contrary I'm wary of any device with a security cam or cam/mic operated (like vacuums). I'm pretty sure people watching the city/mall cams are also having a blast.

At Tesla they do have valid reasons to get info like unrecognised signs and accidents. Non of the material should be shared beyond improving the car. Question is how can one do this correctly? At least non of the material for leaked yet.

@Demolishun they are very cool and aspirational but frankly I like reliable, accessible, affordable trains on tracks. You don’t much know if you’re on tracks or hovering if it’s properly designed and the cars are made to be a nice place to be.

@Demolishun I'm quite the progressive one but I also think that they are bullshit. And of course government sponsored and forced upon us.
There is no way I believe that it's environment friendly to A. Producing more cars, charging stations and wiring.
    B. Lithium batteries are not only super taxing to make, they break fast, especially in extremish temperatures.
    C. They pull away way more aggressively than traditional cars. Using more energy, taxing roads at traffic stops and need quicker tire replacement.
    D. Green power really isn't that green. Last year we burned at lot more coal than before. Some traded certificates from countries that don't care about green energy aren't going to change that. Most electric cars ride on coals with high energy loss.

This is not extensive research but so far the research that I have seen is incomplete or biased.

@jeeper Train rides are an underrated form of micro-vacation. Very relaxing, especially if its regional or cross-country.

@hjk101 to add on top of what you noted we also will have to keep investing in car infrastructure. Overal cars of any kind are known to be terribly inefficient and for most people public transport could be a good option with adequate investment from the government. Especially for commutes
  • 0
@Tonnoman public transport isnt sage my dude. Crackheads, rapists, looters, and murderers all the time.

Public transport isnt feasible. Forcing everyone onto ot arguably just endangers more people and robs them of the independence that a personal vehicle provides.

@Wisecrack it's fine as long as you don't live in a failed society
  • 0
@electrineer thanks to that failed society that saves and helps European countries constantly. It is banal to call US outin the most insincere way.
  • 0
@aviophile that has nothing to do with what I said
  • 0
@electrineer in which other country there is security problem in the meme level? Let’s not fool ourselves wich country you really meant. But fair enough, you didn’t spell it out.
  • 1
@Wisecrack weird how that's absolutely not the case in plenty of countries. But when billions are spent on car related subsidies public transit has a tough time competing.
  • 2
@aviophile the US has third world country levels of wealth inequality. It could have phenomenal public transit if it weren't for people's unwillingness to question the system.
  • 1
@Tonnoman just mentioning wealth inequality is also bullshitting. Average US poor is miles above average China or Russia poor. What next, will you post some San Fransisco street photo to prove your point? There is a reason why people are trying to enter US by a desert, not to other countries.
  • 2
@aviophile it's not only about wealth though but also freedom. We're taking about a country where it's not safe to walk on the street without a car.
  • 1
@electrineer you are like distilled, absynth level cringe bro. There arr districts(not even cities) in USA that are by progressive idiots, doesn’t mean who country of 52 states are like that. Stop with this childish anti-USA stance. You talk English ffs, this is how important USA are to you(not because you like Bri’ish people)
  • 2
@aviophile small towns in most places are okay. The places that are iffy are large cities especially in blue states.

We had antifa show up in our town. They tried to block the road by holding hands. People slowly drove through them. The cops got involved and made it clear this isn't happening here.

Another town up North knew they were coming. So all the people went downtown with guns. The antifa bus showed up, flipped off the residents and yelled curses, then left. So in our neck of the woods we don't do that shit here. Go to a blue state however and it is like night and day. The really big cities are like war zones of minorities killing minorities. They never show that on the news either. Sad. You also have leaders in the blue cities not enforcing the law to keep the crime stats low.

"If there are any Tesla owners here, grab you cock and start waving at your car so they have to watch it. Or if you don't have a cock, borrow your neighbour's one."

Seems like a source of infinite liability for them.
  • 1
@Wisecrack probably all waved in the ToS
  • 1
@Tonnoman no, you're mistaken. That was the company waving *its cock*, write in the customer's face.
