As a dev how important it is to use linux as your development machine? instead of windows or mac

depends on what you develop! 😜

As an app developer I prefer OS X

Web dev is good on any os i think

I use Linux for all my Christmas, C++, and similar projects

Web development: OS X is primary (has Adobe CC), Linux secondary. Prefer *nix. I'll never buy a Windows machine again.

I use both windows and OS X.

I use OS X as it's just a prettier *nix, plus I love the build quality on their laptops. I couldn't go back now

Even for web development I find access to a real Terminal is a top priority. I can quite happily work on either Linux or OS X as I spend a good chunk of time on the command line, but I can't work on Windows.

Plus most tooling is geared around *nix environments, sometimes with Windows as an afterthought. Even getting Python and virtualenv working on Windows is a PITA.

@aaron i totally agree with you. I was thinking to get one.

I use OSX for Dev work, and Kali Linux for penetration testing
