Linux is ok. Unix - ... Not so much. So far I only found AIX easy to work with.
Which ones did you like? -
@netikras Asterix is pretty slick. Obelix is also not bad, but more for heavy lifting.
-
I like Gentoo. It is the only unixoid that actually cares about what i want and still does most the work for me.
-
@Oktokolo Gentoo is love.
Main OS since ... Forever. (15 years plus I'd guess?).
I don't like most unix derivatives...
E.g. BSD is a pain in the butt. -

Death by XNU XNU

(as most will get the futurama reference, but probably not know what XNU is) -

@thebiochemic Miraculix' elixir recipe heavily depends on strawberries for no reason. All it does is complicating the procurement process - heavily delaying the build.

Never really liked the unix philosophy although the longer I'm spending on designing my own little os the more "everything is a file" sounds kinda elegant
Fuck text streams though that shit has to go -
@12bitfloat honest question:
What’s the alternative to "everything is a file"?
Something like the Windows Registry? -
@Lensflare Yeah that's what I first imagined. But it's honestly not that elegant since you bow have data in two separate "address spaces". Everything being mounted in the file system and having "special" device files is so much simpler
I fucking love *unix 💏
E.g. Linux
