lxmcf204097y@console I semi agree but if a game is made well, you wont know it's made in untiy, unreal or anything.
People only take notice of the crap most of the time -
"then make one yourself" is not the best comeback line. Everyone has right to have an opinion on any matter, even without knowing how to make own engine.
And that's what that shit-talk really is - an opinion. We shouldn't care about their's opinions, let them talk :) just pick what's best for you. -

It's more talking about people who regard a game as shit because of its engine, like I have people insult me because I use gamemaker studio 2, people hate on games made in unity, it just shits me that people bitch about an engine, by "make your own" I mean as in if it's so shit, make something better then -
Salmakis6737yWell some there are some engines where it is easier to create a game without having a clue about game development. So there are alot unity games by ppl that does not even knows what a GC is, or what DOP is,and why its Important in most game cases. So alot of games are very poor in Performance, and ppl often think that it unity is the reason for the bad perfo.
But there are also great games made in unity (cities skylines) that performs very well while being very complex.
So yep if there are alot shitgames on those engines, does not mean the engine is shit.
(in case of unity there is the problem that some approaches and patterns that are very not made for games are being used by 90% of the community and all best voted answers in forums often not the most performant ones)
In game development there are often places to sacrifice maintainability for Performance. Like most of Uncle bobs rules are a Performance murder for games,where every ms counts. -
Unity gets flack because of the splash screen on the free pricing tier despite it being a very capable engine.

Ok, I am finally fucking sick of all these people shit talking game engines because some people make shitty games with them.
What does it matter what game engine someone uses, unreal engine, game maker, unity, it doesn't matter what you use.
If you think an engine is shit, make your own engine from scratch with all your code, Jesus Christ people -.-
