"We have another major incident spinning up. QueenMorgana, are you free?" NO, I'M FINISHING UP THE NOTES FROM MY LAST TWO CALLS THAT JUST ENDED, WHY DON'T YOU CALL IN, LAZY FUCKWAD.

Why is it so damn difficult for my boss to cover a call when we're all busy DOING ALL THE LITTLE POINTLESS SHIT HE GIVES UP. He had me follow up from my coworker's call yesterday, not seeing the logic in, IF IT WERE STILL A FUCKING ISSUE, THEY WOULD HAVE CALLED US BACK THIS MORNING.

So now, I have to sit on the line AGAIN and take notes for shit that's not even a major issue BECAUSE IT'S BEEN DOWN FOR A WEEK. IF IT'S DOWN THAT LONG AND YOU DON'T SUBMIT A TICKET TO ME OR CALL OUR MAJOR INCIDENT LINE, I DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH TO RESPOND LIKE IT'S AN EMERGENCY.

Also, fucking lazy asswipe of a "teammate" bitching about being on a call for over 8 hours, while the rest of us are on back to back calls. He's never been on a long call and has been here a year longer than I have. I've been on a 14 hour and a 16 hour, and my other teammate has handled a 26 hour call. 8 HOURS IS FUCKING NOTHING AND YOU WORK FROM HOME SO DON'T EVEN HAVE TO WEAR PANTS.

**spilled 3 cups of coffee this morning, and have an expensive maintenance on my car today, likely to explode on just about everyone**

@QueenMorgana What kind of calls take that long? What is your job? 😱

Hope your day gets better. I'm actually having an abnormally good day, so I'm waiting on the shit storm that is going to come

*hugs tight* seems like you need that hug! ❤︎❤︎

Holy crap. I hope everything gets better soon. And seriously, those call times seem ridiculous. What do you talk about for that long?

If I were closer I'd offer to fix your car for free, but A) I'm across the country and B) you'd probably prefer a certified mechanic over some college rallyist.

Anyway, here's hoping your day gets better, and a hug and some coffee from an Internet stranger you've never met. Best of luck!

26hours is along call. Lol. even 8hours is ALOT OF TIME! What is the point of calling that long? After 1h you cant focus anymore anyway

Ugh that sounds awful. Hope it gets better for you soon sweetie.

Is there something like a coffee donation site for developers? I'd donate right now. ;)

... anyway, WTF. Doesn't your boss take into account that these long hours are fucking exhausting?!
  • 1
yeah, +1 on the question what kind of calls take 26hrs?
  • 4
    @Lobidu @nin0x03 @linuxer4fun @projektaquarius @1989 @aaxa someone broke a 15TB production database on the 26 hour one.

Cert issues (external firewall company fucked up) on 16 hour call.

"deploy to all" vs "deploy to group" for a test deployment for the 12 hour one (uninstall on 180+ workstations).

This one is another cert issue (on customer side).

I'm a major incident manager. So when shit breaks, I fix it.

Since posting, I've been on 3 other calls.

@captnmatt2736 thank you. It's the 90k mile one with alignment too.

@QueenMorgana Damn. That sounds tiring 😱

@QueenMorgana Holy shit you are a really strong woman! You have my utmost respect!
Here have some warm fresh coffee to relax for a moment ❤️❤️❤️❤️☕☕❤️☕☕☕☕

@PonySlaystation Not just woman. I'd say just a strong person. I don't think I would last long in that job 😂
  • 3
@aaxa @PonySlaystation there's a reason we have the highest turn over rate. And why I'm so upset that switching teams got delayed.
  • 1
@PonySlaystation thank you for the coffee, ❤

@QueenMorgana I am so sorry holy shit. At my company that would be a fraud, waste, and abuse violation.

@projektaquarius we support 24x7 environments and are short staffed. Not much we can do. Most customers understand and work well with us, thankfully.

I didn't read who posted it. So while reading, I saw your name, in the rang. And I was like, "this name sounds familiar. Yeah she is on tHhis forum". So I thought somebody posted abt you

@1989 close. That's what many do, but we do more than that now. We're all technically inclined, so we've earned the respect of the teams and they listen more than they used to 😂

    @chiragiem36??

@QueenMorgana and I thought my job is hard.... I feel better now, though I feel very sorry for you and your team. You should check if there is a law in your country that forbids working shifts that long. There could be something you could use to protect yourself from this crap. It would be a deal breaker to me if my company would demand that long work hours.

We do have emergencies and stay late and sometimes overnight but that is rare, like once in 6 months...

@sinisas the problem is, we need the time to go talk to labor commission. And that's not working out well.

@GodHatesMe it's easier to get boss fired. They'll just pull people from other teams who used to do the job
