Friend: So you're like a Developer right? Specifically using JavaScript?

Me: I mean...kinda? Pretty Noobish still...

Friend: But you could like show a buddy of mine some basics right?

Me (thinking to myself...the best way to test your knowledge is to teach it...): well...sure...

Friend: Great here is their info!

*Drives an hour away*
*sits down with this friend of a friend*
*busts out laptop*

Friend of friend: So how long have you been a Java Developer?

Me: -_- oh fuck...

*head desk*

    If the unfriend button on Facebook has ever needed to be used in real life, it was then. Time to unfriend that person because that's unacceptable bullshit.

    @jhh2450 I actually did lmfao

    I don't understand how people think Java and JavaScript are the same thing.
    When I first learned the basics of programming I instantly knew that they were different languages, despite both owning "Java" in it's name.
    I guess I'm lucky.

    @Nifty yeah well, it's obviously confusing for people who are not into programming at all.

    Blame javascript inventors...
    They just wanted to be associated with a completely different but popular language

    @Nifty I legit don't understand it either. It's not rocket science. What's worse is I'm seeing newer programmers and CS students making that mistake and that's what bugs me the most. Even when I was a square one, no knowledge scrub...I knew the difference.

    @RodrigoF I place about 50% of the blame there, and the other 50% on general stupidity of humans.

    Ok, so is a microwave oven the same thing as an oven? No, of course not.

    I hope you got back in your carpet and drove home?

    @s0nic12 actually we went over the differences between java and JavaScript and why they should never let our mutual friend help them ever again.
  • 2
    Well... Everytime a friend asks me to check his computer I ask for money in advance...
    Never got the money... Or fixed others computers

    @RodrigoF you're a wise wise individual

    Too much people are making that mistake, it's annoying ! I say we should rename JS into something else (just to create more confusion).
