As a legal thing at work I need to have someone verify my citizenship by filling out a form for my I-9. They ask the person for their title. My husband can’t be serious, so he put that his title is “Keeper of the Swans”.

Here’s hoping I don’t have an awkward convo with legal over the validity of verification by a man claiming the title “Keeper of the Swans”

In his _defense_, the form didn’t let him leave “Title” blank.

"title" is the silliest of all misplaced personal details.

It's an artifact of the English language that only directly translates to French and textbook German and is completely optional in modern English.

Nothing prevents you from calling people by last name directly unless you're working specifically with married couples.

I had to do the same thing recently as well.

My wife filled out the form. Strange that a spouse can even do that.

@lungdart Right? I would have thought they’d have a requirement that it not be a person related to you.

Though the last time I worked at a remote company, I feel like they just had me take a photo of my ID and send it to HR. I find it really weird to have to have some random dude swear that they, for realsies, saw your identification paperwork and attest to your ability to work.

@lorentz In my husband’s defense, the form wouldn’t let him submit without filling out that field. He thought it meant job title and he’s between jobs (“AND I DON’T WORK FOR YOUR COMPANY!” he says loudly to the side)
