Why isn't there a notification when somebody downvotes you?

I'm bursting with joy when I see my shitty comments get negative points, but unfortunately I am not notified when this happens.

    Because I’d get too many notifs!!

    Then have an option to toggle which notifications to receive? Similar to push notifications.

    @CoffeeAndHate it was a joke. I hope I don’t get that many downvotes!

    This has been suggested in the past, but we’re not sure we really want to give that much exposure to downvotes. Someone in the past had suggested some sort of screen to show which of your content has gotten downvoted and why. Something like that could be good too.

    Please make a GitHub issue in the tracker if you can - that’s where we track all feature requests now.

    Well, since o brought this to your attention, I don't see any reason to post the same thing there. It's not like there is a huge team working on the app.

    And I don't want to get refused twice.

    @CoffeeAndHate 👌🏻👌🏻 for the refused twice point.

    @CoffeeAndHate sure, up to you. We ask for people to create issues so those who have the same requests as them can chime in and discuss.

    If we added every feature that one person wanted then we’d have an unmanageable amount of features. If a lot of people want it, we usually add it.

    @1989 Sure, that will work for me. As long as it will link to the actual comment that got downvoted.

    @dfox @CoffeeAndHate Also it's hard to remember every request someone makes here. Stuff usually gets developed in a certain order and without an issue on github it's easy to forget about it when the time comes. Also, posting it on github makes prioritization much easier

    @dfox

    Speaking of downvoting, can we get some sort of block mechanic..? It's sad that we need this, but this guy keeps harassing my girlfriend and me (sexual comments, stalking, ++spamming so that they are the only one in our notifs) and we thing this very needed.
  • 2
    @dfox I'd have this on privacy/linux stuff 😅
  • 2
    @Cyanite we’re working on a blocking feature and plan to launch it soon.

    However, sexual comments/stalking is against our rules anyone so if someone is doing that please email me and I’m happy to ban them if they’ve violated our rules.

    @theScientist this is the second time he has made comments towards her, and him and another guy were making commnents to another gils the other day (the other guy was really crossing the line) and he was also spamming me and my gf with ++. The ++ didn't bother me, but made my girlfriend uncomfortable.

    @dfox I don't think he's actually done *enough* for a ban, I just wanted to see about blocks.

    @ThatDude

    The one whom was crossing the line..? @lonecoder. Their account seems to be deleted. Along with all of their comments.
  • 2
    @Cyanite that person was permabanned earlier today.

    @dfox

    Permabanned..? Like, via IP..?

    Or how does that work..?
  • 1
    @Cyanite their account/email. We only IP ban if someone tries to come back, rarely is needed.
  • 3
    @Cyanite Shit didn't know we had such people around :| I thought we were all civilized angry people sad that we need to block/ban people

    There should be somewhere else for this stuff... otherwise devrant will one day become the perfect platform for discussing how to improve devrant.
