Reminds of this old Swedish classics. It was printed in a some magazine (not computer) back ln the 80s.

Translation reads something like: "Andreas Hedlund has gone through all imaginable software problems. Now he has decided that the hardware, the mothermodem, the heart of the harddrive, is not working"

The phrase "modermodem" has since then become a favourite when discussing some complicated technical issue, especially with non-techs.
