You know, you could have just dropped crapple 7 chargers ago...

@CoreFusionX For what? Android? Yeah I got one of those to play with. Android sucks hard.

Android rules. You can code your own device to behave. Or break it in the process 😼

    I hate phones.
They’re such a huge pain to use, and they spy like you’re a Russian official.

@Root This is the line I find myself taking more and more. There just isn't a good one out there.

which games? iPhones 1 to 4s — old charger (4 years). iPhones 5 to 14 — lightning (9 years). Now, Type C. Want to see real charger games? Look at pre-iPhone devices.

Apple did change the phone connector once. Just once in 2012 from the big one to lightning.
The USB one will be the second change since almost two decades.
It’s no where near the bullshit claim of changing with every new model.

And how many cables did Android Phones have? I remember at least 3. All of them USB but still different.

    People still buy iPhones?

@Shardj how else are you supposed to have a phone which is not full of ads and vendor specific crap?
  • 1
@ostream I bought my wife a pixel and put lineage on it! It’s still a phone, though, and still infuriating to use.
  • 2
@Lensflare iPhones are solely vendor specific crap, just buy a phone without it

The only people who waste money on iPhones are brand obsessed sheep

@Shardj vendor specific crap that‘s the same on each phone, is not broken and is not littered with ads.
I couldn’t care less about the brand and the looks.

@Shardj Yes the old people need the big push buttons and most importantly stop changing shit for no reason dammit!

@Lensflare you need to be very careful when buying an android phone, but some brands like Motorola are supposed to be less heavy on the vendor crap.

The beauty of android is that you can have nearly full control over your device if you are a tinkerer. In that case, vendor crap and ads are the first things to go. But in that case, you also need to choose your device even more carefully. That's why I haven't upgraded my phone in a long time. I don't think there's an android or ios phone that I would use as my daily driver in stock configuration.

@electrineer yup, and I don’t have an interest in tinkering or researching for hours what brand has the least crap.

    @ostream @Root
For a Pixel phones I'd recommend Graphene OS over Lineage OS.

Especially if you want Apps relying on Play Services to work properly (microG can be hit or miss), while not giving Google system level access & integration to your phone (gApps), its Sandboxed Google Play Services might be useful for you.

@saucyatom the maintainer seems to be quite a character though.
