    @legionfrontier Thankfully, I grew in a generation where floppy where still alive and have thus known about their existence. I am a 90's kid that didn't own a computer until around the 2000s.

    Nah, they ain't dead.

    Still being used to hold small chunks of data here & there.

    Probably also some guys using them to smuggle stuff in..

    Nobody knows how to use em anymore :p

    @lotd haven't personally seen a *working* floppy in years. Pretty dead to me.

    @World Im not that old but man, diskettes dominated a good chunk of the 90s for the normal everyday use since while my mother bought me my own personal computer with Windows 98/Pentium 3 (Coppermine) with a CD-ROM reader back in the day only really baller kids or Internet cafes had the luxury of burn CDs, your normal folk used the quite dirty cheap by then Floppies

    Ah~~ good times back when my mother was wishing a bright and good future for her kid and not be uber dissapointed in him later on and regret basically ever go out her way to be sure to get him a personal computer .... fucking end my life please

    @legionfrontier My first computer had a slot for floppy but no floppy disk drive. And I remember my first OS to be Windows XP. So I was a late starter 😅 Didn't really use floppy.

    And I think its every body's story

    @lotd I don't even own a drive. I don't think its worth the effort 😂

    @World For those starting from 2000s and up yeah, but Floppies were the norm in the 90s and they still used them in the 2000s in my high school when they need to physically send data mainly individual private .doc files to some government bodies since floppies were just dirty cheap and it was way too wasteful to burn a cd for a file less than 1.5 mb in size so dont go generalizing that much

    @legionfrontier I agree. Maybe I hadn't seen much use but people did actually use them. To me, floppy were dead. It might be a different story for the rest of us.

    @hobbyte Whoa. What do you use them for? Hasn't it occurred to anyone that maybe they should switch?

    I have a stack of floppies. I use a couple for secure encryption keys. Nobody can find my floppy drive, and I have to manually enable drivers to use it, so I'm good lol
