Client : I want an online store

Me: oh nice, send me your requirements document and a preferred website.

Client: 24hours later, sends me images of the products... wtf

Patient: I don't feel so well

Doctor: Okay, send me a diagnosis and will prescribe you a remedy

Patient: I vomit a lot

I had to create a demo website just to get refusal, they want Bugatti with the price of Honda.

@aitkotw I'm so done with those, if they can't pay for a project manager, they should at least make some effort. All they want to hear is price

I don't understand the fuss. Isn't sales a fundamental skill required to be a freelancer? If all you want to do is code something, shouldn't you work for a company that does the sales and requirements specification elsewhere?

If they don't understand the requirements, they can't see valid definition in pricing,

If you bill them and build what they want.

1. You will have a website you don't want to add to your portfolio
2. You build something that works and they tell you they're disappointed. They wanted something else, and even though they still make sales from the platform, you still accrue emotional debt

@alexare that's what business is all about. You don't sell a website. You don't sell a product and you sure don't sell a service.

You sell value.

This means it's up to you to convince your clients that you are delivering value, you don't have to educate them but you can make clear to them what provides value and what costs a lot of money.
They didn't come to you with an assignment because they need your help to figure out the cheapest way to provide the most value.
