plusgut59668yI would be to lazy, to learn for a certificate.. aren't they asking questions, who have no real life relevance? -

@plusgut This one is about knowning shitloads about Linux. And with that I mean shitloads!

bahua124728y"I have 3 years' experience with Linux" is a much more powerful sentence to a hiring manager than, "I have a certification in Linux system adminstration."
However, if your employer is footing the bill, absolutely go for it. -

@theScientist Not even sure, it's been a tradition for ages and it looks like Linux so I thought I'd just do that again :P
 -

Since we are talking a out certs, do you guys recommend it? I'm a mobile dev, and here they don't ask about certs, but does it really benefit or just read docs and apply tutorials is enough?
 -

@theScientist It does although that's not the reason why I do it. In my 'defense' (not that I need to defend myself), I'm not the one who started it.
 -

@theScientist Oh and, I'd actually like the avatars in the feed myself, just a matter if opinion I guess :)
 -

@gitpush it depends. Some jobs like them. Some see it as just trying to fluff your resume with crap.

pk3594868yGo put a book on his desk - "you get what you pay for. Not learning linux or raise salary" -

I think it depends on the cert. A multiple choice test is not a good cert but I know the red hat ones make you actually configure the system which is why I took it. I did learn some new things while studying even after using linux since 2003.
