I'm learning from Udacity and I ran my first Android app today on my phone! Thanks Udacity 😀

👍Hopefully it was a kotlin course.

@convict3d its not. It's the android basics course about user interface on Udacity. I'm pretty sure it focuses on XML and Java. Why do you say that regarding Kotlin?

Same but with Kotlin and Android on udemy! It's satisfying, isn't it? 😁

@Tahaga yes very! I'm not really sure what kotlin is/does yet.

@virus200 it's a programming language, now you can code android apps in it 😀 ( it's made by jetbrains if I'm not wrong )

@Wcked yep exactly! It compiles on the JVM and it's fully compatible with java and its libraries, which makes it really cool

@Wcked so does it replace java for android development or does it work along side it?

@virus200 both! Android studio 3.0 even allows to automatically convert java to Kotlin code, there's a Kotlin plugin to do that on previous versions. They perfectly work alongside, but Kotlin can perfectly replace java

@virus200 it works along with Java, "you can combine Kotlin and Java code in the same package. You can actually call Kotlin code from Java code and vis-versa. They can be used together fairly easily." Yet I work as an android developer and never used Kotlin in my apps
