@kunashe only had some mAtx cases laying around but needed something bigger and the wood was also laying around
-
@Kimmax its amazing, except for their inbuilt firewall manager which doesn't work at all, so you'll have to use iptables anyway 😅

@Linux I know. For what I do now, I don't need ECC. And I wasn't willed to spend more than I need.
-
Kimmax109877y@Linux you absolutely don't _need_ ECC for proxmox, I would heavily recommend it tho

Rohr7307yWow... This is actually a great idea. I always thought about building a wooden case for my PC. But building one as a server makes much more sense.
You can actually build and rebuild the case 100% free to your specific needs. And everything on you own! And everything is 100% recyclable ...
But you should probably not talk about this to someone who is a firefighter 😅
Really really like that!!! If I had access to tools and wood atm I would start something as well ... Sadly I am unable to craft some stuff on my own atm :( -
@Rohr thanks. Actually it is not that complicated. If don't have a saw at home, just get the rectangular pieces cut in your local hardware store. You can make the cutouts even with a carpet knife.
-
Rohr7307y@ChibangLW that is true, but atm I am living in another country. So I don't have my hardware arround me, which is actually even more a handy cap :D
But I still have some good ideas when I am back :) -
You have the same graphics card in your virtualization server as I have jn my Main PC (also for gaming)... 😢
But hey.. this "case" looks very nice :) -
@cvonderstein if I want to game I spin up a windows vm with GPU pass through and nvidia gamestream.
My "main" PC is a 2in1 with docking station. ;) so I have to use a VM for demanding tasks.
Thanks. -
@JFK422 I built the case over a year ago and for the first months I had a dual socket Xeon board with the graphics card. Never experienced critical temps even under benchmarks.
The fans in the front push quite a bit of air through the case. -
@ChibangLW so youre basically running a terminal machine setup like shops or small offices?
-
@ChibangLW what's a 2in1 I thought that usually only refers to tablet computers, is that what it means? anyway what pc are you using, hows it called 😊
-
@JoshBent IMO the price is comparable to other 2in1 like the Surface Pro. Plus you get thunderbolt 3.
-
@ChibangLW the specs I googled first showed i3 128gb ssd only and 8gb ram, but when I went to the actual page it showed i7 etc. so its indeed fine for the price.
