While I understand the initial absurd you see, I can think of a valid use for them. Christmas-town lanterns. Smth to warm your handsand face at while sipping hot wine in a city/town square while listening to festive music, people chattering, enjoying festive smells
-
It's a conspiracy my guy. That company hopes for their product to blow up and damage your house, so u can hire their home damage repair company for "cheap price".
It's all corporate propaganda. -
@SidTheITGuy well aside from me being female... i think there's too many holes in that scenario.
Im sure I could find the factory that produced(or still does) it, to find out how/why they made them.
The ad was from Menards. (construction supplies and whatever piles of wholesale clearance items they find to resell)
They don't tend to make things like that... it was likely from a big pile of overproduction that needed to stop wasting space. -
@awesomeest Ah crap, I didn't stop to see your avatar. my bad. Aside from that, I still stand on what I said. PROPAGANDA !!!
-
@netikras even if it wasnt a hassle and hazard from multiple angles, itd kinda negate your suggestion.
If youd expect it to be useful to small groups of a larger event/entertainment/etc, how?
If its meant to be acquired/used individually, that'd mean some random people are carrying around explosives/fuel in their bags... im your case, while drinking.
Them there's the issue of being social (or able to pay attention to whatever]... and some more -
@awesomeest I'd expect small businesses (think kiosk-sized business) to find them attractive. I can easily imagine a festive kiosk selling christmas-y things (socks, hot tea, hot wine, spiced cocoa/coffee, glazed pastry bites, choco-covered-waffles, etc.), one to three small round tables (standing, not sitting) nearby for people to stop and sip their beverages and grab a bite at while enjoying the warmth of the flame and "Do They Know It's Christmas?" playing out of the...lantern... on those small round tables.
That's just from the top of my head. But I for one would enjoy it in our Christmas-town this year :) -
@SidTheITGuy
> I didn't stop to see your avatar
FWIW, why would you trust the avatar to reflect facts?
For all I know you're a peroxide blonde from Sweden pretending to be a weird Indian lad in her avatar -
@netikras I said "my guy" and OP said she's female, so I apologized for skipping it. It has nothing to do with what she said in the post.

@netikras i think youre seriously underestimating the 'pain in the ass' factors here... or overestimating a typical human.
I'm not saying that a device that gives off heat and music isnt a valid combo... it's specifically the combo of fire, from a concentrated fuel source, right next to a delicate, temperature sensitive, battery that's the issue. I think the kiosk-type places would also have a sudden issue with insurance, and whoever they were renting indoor space from if trying to demo these.
Just for a small reminder... you remember the issue a few years ago with samsung note phone batteries? That was from poor QA checks that resulted in a small percentage of devices getting hot enough to burn and/or the battery popping open. There wasn't any cases of "explosions" until after lawsuits($$$) were being mentioned. I'm sure these devices have less rigorous QA... and then youre adding a concentrated and/or compressed fuel source. Most Americans are too inept to use a propane barbecue. -
@SidTheITGuy you cared enough to respond saying you dont care though lol.
I likely have you beat of the high front... but i guarentee im more used to functioning on drugs... medical issues. -
@awesomeest Last week, I livestreamed myself on YT for about 2 hours coding, right after I finished a blunt.
I can be functional as well high as shit on weed. -
@SidTheITGuy lol... that's adorable
Personally im not big on social media... or most humans... and anything requiring clothes, speaking only a specfic language, watching out so someone doesn't get 'upset' cuz I'm blunt and not pandering to whatever they're likely on disability for... etc
Unfortunately, people love me on that crap, yet i have no clue why anyone would waste hours of their life watching someone do *something* especially when they can't see it and the person is asking why don't they have something better to do.
When I say the randos with no life love me... I mean it. A year ago i opened kik for rhe first time in awhile... was intoxicated doing piles of rhel configs and scripting... linux is nonsense via any sober logic. I thought they brought back video chat. turns out I was streaming and dozens watching, me asking why they had no life and wtf was with the blue squares i kept getting. Next day, i tried to see if it was a fluke/wtf the squares were.
Blue_squares==240$ -
@SidTheITGuy i need to start doing more social media bs... it's fiscally irresponsible if I dont, as I own a company reliant of social media... but I have an adorable funny dog. the more popular he gets, the less weird/questioning the public will be about my lack of socials. Im not shy, or hard to find, just tend to do anything except that crap. The past decade of my facebook is essentially 1 profile pic update every 2ish years. I tried the tiktock shit but that app is like a seizure of stupidity/societal collapse every time u open it. I made a vid thing, the worst/laziest thing i could think of its tagged with "diy unicorn" and probably some other random shit. I have this reverse snuggie thing that im sure was meant for children, it has a unicorn hood. Whole vid, "how to be a unicorn." *puts hood up* "yeah, unicorn" plus some random annoying music/filters it asked me to add. Apparently that's worth likes/watching. I made another, ani gif of 6pics of me eating dippin dots... same thing

@awesomeest I'm not sure what your point is. But what I can tell you is just go for what you want to do.
Stop overthinking and believe in yourself. You'll make it before you realise it.
Edit: Ayy you're 31? So you're the same age as me lol. -
@awesomeest some guy at the nsa probably: "why do all these terrorists love this lantern so much? Whats so fucking great about this lantern!?"
Truly a riddle wrapped in an enigma. -
@SidTheITGuy nah... i was born in 92 :P
the whole 'believe in yourself' thing is sweet, but frankly, not my issue in the slightest. I appreciate the sentiment though. -
@Wisecrack ehh the nsa knows me and anyone whos passed a CEH test... they dont have enough people to keep track of us all and the few more adept people worth tracking would use all their resources and just be more likely to start a problem than find one
-
@awesomeest uhh madam if my maths is correct you were born in 1992 and it's currently 2023 so it'd make you 31 years old.
-
@awesomeest and I go by the vibe of the person and the chemistry of two individuals.
What's your astrology sign? 😏 -
@SidTheITGuy idk i think it was/is taurus? May 20 1992.
I stopped paying any attention to that shit when it said my colour was pink.

Somebody, anybody, tell me what I'm missing here that makes this get mass-produced.
I've always been a bit if a pyro, and ive certainly made random, pointless texh for no valid reason beyond "why not?'. I also have dealt in international OEM sourcing and manufacturing. I even missed the selfie stick boom back before anyone knew they existed... muktille faxriries I've done signing business with were selling them(dead stock) below cost due to lack... silly me thought they were too ridiculous; one of my hudiness cards literally says ".Really cool stuff you almost alwats want... but never need". Most nonsense novelty is the majority of one if my businesses
...but seriously... who thinks a rechargeable battery, compact soeakers, and lit gas canister is a good idea??
I think I may need to re-rank my mental list of most asinine things I've encountered this week... wsl GUI capability built-in with default images and the reminder of pointoess features like passwords for groups, seem less worthy now.
