@Nanos Turns out no - I don’t. I just get paid (not much) more
-
A lot more old heads quit after we had to go in lol
-
@Sid2006 Yeah man. Got any words of sage wisdom I could use so I don’t take out production?
-
You gotta remember that it’s a job. And you only got a limited 8 hours a day which somehow you gotta do work which gets you the most street cred. What’s going to get you promoted: doing boring maintenance stuff or shiny new feature to wow the customer.
-
@PaperTrail Insisting we use X legacy technology to get work done when we could use Y to get it done now (and being shocked when we went and did Y anyways)
-
@catgirldev Not really a thing at work. People just pretend it doesn’t exist. Until it does
-
You’ll only find out once you have those conversations. Take them as a learning and kick on.

“Changing the button colors increases engagement by 3%!!!” - an actual statement I heard

@Jase Yes, I did. I asked them to talk about their favourite project and asked them to show me through some code. They are self taught and they’re someone from my own app community so I really am happy to have someone from there.

@NekkoYato Unironically, this is what my start up aims to find out too.
The answer is networking and projects.
The even better answer is networking with people at the company you want to apply at and tailoring your application towards it (i.e. building projects which are about what the company does, tailoring your resume, going to related networking events etc. ) -
As a start up man myself, it IS auto generated. We call it “copy” and there are 500,000,000 tools to use AI to write it
-
@electrineer pen and paper. no need to complicate it
-
won’t lie - i just bang them out on paper and take a photo for later. somehow it works
-
Games changed. Everyone has a degree now - how do you stand out ?
-
@hjk101 ye innit. it’s like don’t you have other candidates to deal with?
-
People get paid millions to write drone software to help blow up Palestinian kids so working on something to get people off is really not that high on the totem pole.
-
tell me about a time when you and your team had to work through a difficult situation.
-
@black-kite I work at a big boy company - the money machine was made years ago, all I do is maintain it. It is what it is.
-
blue got taken so the marketing think tanks got busy
-
@bahua After reading what people are saying and applying the scenarios to the full context, it’s clear what I must do. I must have this conversation, and if we can’t find a compromise, Ill follow my other coworkers and quit.
Thank you all for the amazing replies -
@AnxiousADHDGuy I hear you. Imma do that more.
-
@Tounai Easy on remote. Less so in the office.

NFTea - Nice fucking Tea

i’d also like to add learn to be graceful with failure. problem solving isn’t easy - you’re going to fail tons and make slow progress sometimes, esp. if you’re trying to model the problem.
some people fail like once, and then they turn to help. like cmon, we are all crying here. -
redux sucks and i will die on this hill
-
@README-txt Just the chorus.
