When a great developer in your team decides to leave for a bigger company and then half of his last day is for him to share all the knowledge he can to the team.

I'm a little sad about our loss, but really glad for him and for all the things I just learned.

You know when you live in a pretty warm city and work on a crowded big room with more than 50 people and all the 6 closest air-conditioners are off and nobody seems to be giving a shit about it? It's like 30°C and my USB fan (which used to save me in times like these) just broke. I'm suffering.

Back in 2002, when I was 11, I wrote one of my first programs (a calculator in VB5) and then showed all my friends as it was the most amazing thing ever: "look, I made a computer program". Nobody cared by then. I see now some of them are also software developers.

Boss asks me to come to work earlier, "there are a lot of things to do". Came earlier. Productivity is now really low because I'm tired.

I type like a monkey (all wrong and slow) when someone is watching me code.

A few years ago, a fellow programmer called me to teach him how to use git blame to find out who wrote that piece of code that broke the monetary ecosystem in this game. He was pretty upset about it because they blamed him about it. I gladly helped him just to see my own name there. Sad story.

One of my coworkers uses two monitors (as well as all the other devs), but one of them is always displaying the desktop, with a big gospel wallpaper.

The good parts of being a game developer: watched E3 all week. Now back to work...

That moment when you're very happy you just completed a hard Haskell kata in CodeWars, with 8 lines, three functions, a lot of functional concepts (which would take at least 30 lines in Java or C#) and they show you the top voted solution by another user with JUST TWO LINES and a lot of function composition.
