I get so nervous because there aren't many lady devs, so if someone thinks it is me it probably is 😭😂
-
@SweetHuman I'm an apple geek so it's nice to pair all the products together 😁
-
I've been working with WordPress for a few years now. It's not my favorite and has its limitations, but it is great for simple builds that don't need to be scaled. I have coded themes and plugins from scratch though, so I was able to manipulate a lot more and really make it my own. They have made a lot of improvements over the years and are implementing more modern practices. I definitely think it gets more hate than it deserves. I've done some pretty cool shit with it
-
@simeg I was nice of course 🙃
-
@helloworld I just switched from a 5 to 7 so I'm getting adjusted to the bigger screen. Definitely makes sense, just threw me off initially 😉
-
@tisaconundrum LinkedIn I'm guessing 😑
-
Looks like you guys are balls deep in data
-
@RemeJuan Node modules drive me nuts!!!
-
@sylar182 I'm lucky that my bf is tech savvy and is actually quite interested in code and how it works ☺️
-
@MohitC Exactly! No one knows everything, but take some initiative. I always try to figure it out on my own unless it begins taking an absurd amount of time. That way you actually retain, understand, and learn!
-
Love it! I want to buy one 😊
-
Whoa. Way too much!!! I usually have 10 projects at the same time with different due dates (though usually my company lets clients bully them into flexing time so I still get overloaded). It sounds like they need to hire more devs or you need to get out of there 😕
-
@Letmecode I was quite proud of that one myself 😂
-
Female dev here 🙋 First of all, thank you to many of the upstanding gentlemen who commented on this post, and of course the OP. Your POVs give me hope. To the more close-minded individuals, lol. I truly enjoy working with both male and female devs. Oddly enough I tend to judge them by their character, skills, and work ethic and not the hardware between their legs! Now excuse me, I have a few pieces of bread to go take a shit on and convince some dull asshole it's a Nutella sandwich.

That's amazing! And exactly the right approach. I don't expect PM's to know everything I know – but it's nice when they have a solid concept of the work it takes.
-
@cako91 YESSS! The annoying ads especially
-
@yusijs That's amazing that you are using that time to learn! 👊🏼
-
@Swifticus LOVE your perspective!!
-
@Woosh It is when accomplished individuals cannot internalize their successes and are worried about being exposed as "frauds." Unfortunately plagues many devs, especially us self-taught ones 😕
-
Word play on point 👌

Take your time to research the technologies your company works with, as many have stated. My current PM never took the time to do that. She is overloaded with clients and will never find the time now. So instead of spending ~8 hours a day coding, I spend 1/4 of that time deciphering the clients' requests she copied and pasted from emails and helping her to write emails back describing development processes she doesn't understand and can't articulate.
Needless to say I have avidly been looking for a new job. My company was too lazy and cheap to train the PM properly and now everyone pays for it. -
Update: he apparently started learning Python for 4 hours last night because he "thought it was kind of interesting." He's in dental school...
-
@MLK79 He does 😊
-
I'm not sure if I could commit to that 😝
-
Love my current PM. Flexible, understanding, patient. She's the only one I've ever liked, but I've only had 2 😉
-
Using this 😂
-
@xRahul We actually started the discussion BECAUSE of the Silicon Valley episode
-
My company comes in clutch in these situations. We tell them it's out of scope and charge them a buttload more 😋
-
Lmao my boyfriend has given up trying to understand code, mostly because I'm horrible at explaining it
-
@Renardhj It's bothering me too 😢
