My brother taught himself basics then went on a few courses to get some certifications in plumbing and heating. He’s never without work and probably earns more than 50% of people in this shitshow of an industry.
-
@Nanos you have no clue about autism, just because you’ve known a few people with it means nothing.
That guy targeted people who had done nothing. -
@tosensei the basic upload and checking can be done in a day. As long as all the rules around checking are defined and there’s nothing else additional that needs to happen other than just rejecting a badly formatted file. I’ve done similar.
My guess is that it’s badly defined, the requirements are flaky and it’s a project that no one wants to touch. It would take a monumentally shit dev team to be incapable of coding that in 9 months. -
It might not be straight forward but it wouldn’t take 9 months. Unless it’s some obscure backend framework then it’s a week at most.
From scratch in .net, a half decent dev could do that in a day. -
Not really a story then, just some incoherent ramblings of someone who definitely won’t want whatever it is you end up writing. Good luck with that!

@Nanos this person specifically targeted users here, making racist comments and death threats. They are definitely an arsehole. Mobbing and online bullying isn’t something I’d participate in, it’s usually stopped here pretty quickly when someone starts and it’s not a solution.
Your suggestion at being kind and helpful because they might be this way due to autism is where I have a problem. Autism and this kind of crap are not correlated. All it does is add to the issues those with autism already have to deal with. -
@Nanos were your friends who took their own lives threatening people online or saying how they wanted to marry little girls? I doubt it.
My words were that I wouldn’t be harassing whoever this is but certainly wouldn’t help them.
I have a child who is autistic and certainly wouldn’t come out with this vile crap. Not everyone is a misunderstood, sensitive person who just needs someone to be kind to them. Some people are just arseholes. -
@Nanos did you not read the homophonic, racist, transphobic and misogynistic posts. Along with the death threats and paedophilia.
Your suggestion is to be kind?
This is either a troll or group of trolls or one fucked up individual. Whatever it is, implying it might be due to being autistic is an insult to people on the spectrum.
I wont be harassing them but wouldn’t go anywhere near helping them. -
@johnmelodyme don’t worry, it’ll create other accounts soon hating the west, white people and advocating for child brides.
It’s probably some wannabe edgy 14 year old, still breastfed by it’s mumma. -
I’ve dreamt that I could fly. Can’t do that when I wake up either!
-
I just googled the same and got fried breakfast, curries and roast dinner. Not amazing cuisine but not puke worthy. What did you see? Do we want to know?

Corporate is difficult, everyone seems to be competing to look better than everyone else regardless of what they are actually doing. Scrum teams only really work if they are really small teams, meetings are short and the work is broken down properly.
There are usually better benefits working for a big company but I’ve always found it way more rewarding to work for a small/medium sized business.
I guess it just depends what you want from work. -
@fraktalisman I don’t think there’s many places online where there isn’t a large proportion of US Americans. Some are normal some are fuck nuggets, just like everywhere else. There’s just a lot more Americans so a lot more fuck nuggets.
-
It’s not something I can really get annoyed about, they could call it Satan’s Butthole for all I care. To be honest, that would be more appropriate for some of the projects I’ve worked on.
It’s the whole big deal around the claim that people are actually making a positive impact on the world by doing precisely nothing that’s irritating.
If these things stopped getting any attention, anything done purely for PR reasons would go away. -
A case of shit floating upwards. Do they still code as team leaders or were they promoted out of breaking stuff?
-
Only problem with using work as a distraction is that it’ll become an expectation from your boss. Then if you sort your personal stuff out you won’t have time for it. Unless you want your whole life to be about your job.

Some of the good ones are still here!
