My new day-time WFH setup. Got fed up with sitting in the same old room. So I pulled out an old table. I just have a normal plastic chair because I don't want to spend a fortune on a proper chair. Ergonomics are pretty bad but on the plus side, I get a lot of fresh air and some relief for the eyes. Mosquitoes are an annoyance in the evening though. So I head back inside.
-
@ArtOfBBQ I'd pick it up if I had to build a REST API along with Spring framework or Spring Boot.
-
@ItsNotMyFault Nah. I would say, screwdrivers win over hammers
-
@ArtOfBBQ let me put it to you this way. Is a screw driver better than a hammer?
-
@F1973 Ever heard of irony? ;)

Now, this is just plain stupid. No language gets to be widely in use as Java if its crap. No offence, but I usually find people blindly hating on a language to be hollow inside their head. Either they don't understand where / how the language is supposed to be used or they are just trying to "emulate" another language. If you want Java to be structured the same way as Python or C, then that's your fault.
That said, JavaScript is definitely FUCKING STUPID -
I think you should send this idea to Randall of xkcd comics so that he could make a What If? post on this. Unless he already has it
-
I bet you typed that on the new MacBook Air

@arjaycodes Are you by any chance a fan of James May? I read your comment in his voice for some reason
-
@ajit555 True and more coworkers are taking up the role of the now-fired managers
-
Wow! What fantastic timing. I'm trying to salvage whatever is possible from a message which was sent to a message queue in SOME ENCODING, which the message queue then decoded with UTF-8 and added the goddamn all over the place.

And here I am stuck with a scooter 😑
-
@c3ypt1c@-vim- by that logic I've been writing AI for all these years without even realising it. Damn it. Missed opportunities with my binary search AI.
-
@joodoc I'm sure this one didn't have that. And besides, changing the screen orientation makes the prank a little too obvious to my liking.
-
I can totally relate albeit for more programming reasons. I hate when people just waltz in and say "there is an error. It is not working. Fix it".
Bunch of morons -
@Crazed Is that PHP? Eww.. Get it off my rant 🤢
-
@irene @Tommy314 we aren't that big on "policies" and stuff where I work. We have a laid back approach so no one cares unless you do something illegal. But ofcourse, this resulted in some name calling, but nothing serious :)
-
@irene that "how" sounds arbitrary.
If you are asking how I thought the emoji was different, I don't know.
If you are asking about the script, I'll probably put it up on github if you want me to. -
@irene Also, at first glance, I mistook the finger you were holding up with that emoji 😶
-
@irene I already have put together a small script since this happened. Problem is, after editing the registry for setting the wallpaper, it does not take effect immediately. You need a restart. But then again, I think that might be even more funny. But chances are he will restart at home and I will miss the precious moments.
-
@Kimmax that would have been even more fantastic. But time is a really big constraint when you are pranking someone like this
-
@ViRaS the guy got desperate and did a hard restart. Unfortunately the task bar pops up after you restart
-
@Prutser Eww... 🤢
-
@Prutser if your memory is indeed serving you correct, that is surely a weird name for a command which lists files
-
It's probably just the CPU getting really excited to run your new program
-
Wait. Is this Android Studio ranting about you??
About time really -
@bahua ok. I take it back. Forgot there were a bunch of morons using MacOS
-
** you mean "opens command"? If the person already has a box capable of running terminal, what are the odds of them being this lame?
-
Yeah I guess it's never even a competition in the battery department. I just got used to the lousy battery life. But tlp works rather well on ThinkPads. I can get at least 4-5 hours backup on a P50.
-
@chaddhag sudo apt install tlp
