@jonii YouTube waits until the page containing the video has focus, or at least it does in the browsers I use. This doesn’t bother me as much since I usually navigated to that page specifically for the video.
Edit: Yeah, and the highlight video on profile home pages usually do, too. -
The Zero Punctuation reference is appreciated.
*bows as an Ubuntu user* -
Well, could you tell us which game or game mechanic you’re trying to reverse engineer in this thread, pls? :3
-
On the note of good Microsoft games, I used to love Fury 3 as a kid. (Even though it’s their failed attempt at mimicking Descent, it was still a great game, IMO.)
-
Hey, that story had a much better ending than I expected. Normally you hear of the customer not ever noticing what’s wrong and continuing to insist that you don’t know what you’re talking about. /swt

GitLab has a similar advertisement on their main page already, as well.
-
@vexusia I wish I could upvote this comment more than once!

Ditto. What’s Reb?

The latest Windows 10 update took me about 1.5 hours on a pretty decent non-virtual machine. So, if we were installing the same update, it was a hefty one.
-
@YouAreAPIRate Amen.

Man, I like puns, but I really have to wonder just what caliber of awful that pun had to be to elicit that response. O_o
-
Wow. I had no idea international Windows was so scary. That’s gotta get annoying.
I live in the US and use only English (US). :/ -
That really sucks!
I can’t say the update broke anything for me, but it was seriously poorly timed. I normally use my Linux partition, but I needed to jump really quickly over to Windows to grab a WiFi password. Of course, there is nothing quick about Windows - especially Windows updates. Wouldn’t you know it, it chose that particular boot cycle to spend a bit over an hour updating. By the time it finished, I had already called someone else for the WiFi password. /an -
This is just fantastic! And I’m not sure whether try/catching the cat was an intentional pun, but it is appreciated.
-
Lol, agreed. My team is both development and operations support for legacy applications. You can guess how much actual development gets done.

++’d for Floor Doggo.

I have been there. I know your pain.

I found this post at just the right time. A coworker of mine has been suggesting I try Linux again, as he practically swears by it. I played with Ubuntu a bit back in college, but didn’t get the hang of it. I am excited to try again, though.

I don’t work with JS, but I go back and forth with whether I want to use them in PowerShell. Since they’re not really used, they pretty much only help readability, and that’s only if you’re used to them. My home language is C#, so I have a strong habit of ending lines with a semicolon.
-
Yeah, my first though is “Eh, I’d give it a shot - see what happens,” too. Worst case, you gotta reboot.
And you have 450+ bookmarks in one folder? -
Sometimes Google’s results are prioritized based off of your search history. So, I could see a case for expecting the programming language. I guess pop culture won, anyway, unfortunately.
-
I’m still so happy that Steven Crowder is now a meme. And so soon after I started watching him again.
-
@ewpratten That’s assuming you also want a semicolon after your braces, if statements, and in every blank line between declarations. :/
-
Saw the whole thing. It goes through the usual ups and downs a show goes through, but I still recommend it.
-
This post made me think of that other one. Then I got to the part where you directly linked to it.

Associates degree in Arts from a community college. I’d been studying programming since 8th grade, so I just showed my future boss that I knew what I was doing. That was good enough. Though, you may not get to the interview stage if there are a lot of applicants with that method.
-
Yes, C# is syntactically similar to Java, but I believe that’s because they’re both based on C...

I didn’t watch or read anything on the testimony, but I heard that the majority of his time was spent explaining to old people (the senators) how the internet works.
-
This is one of the reasons when anyone asks me how to become a programmer, I always recommend buying a book or online tutorials. :/
Funny, though. I started using extension methods for the first time a few weeks ago in real-world scenarios. -
Everyone at my job (HUGE company, btw) uses Skype for Business. I don’t really use it elsewhere anymore, though. I have Discord for gaming.
