This hurts my eyes

Probably an odd one out here, but Avatar - The Last Airbender.
It's a kid's show, but the writing, the characters arcs, the themes, the progression, is all written so well. Every season feels complete in itself, yet a part of a whole, and the writers actually made good use of the constraint of keeping it kid friendly. It was something that me and my girl watched together keenly so it's got a special place in my heart.
Also, the re-watch value is just ++ -
We defile the lord's holy order of sentience by creating abominable thinking mecahnicum of our own, not realising in our hubris how they lead to our very doom by slowly making our only survival advantage obsolete. All hail the omnissiah.

Sounds like a broken process because of the lack of respect for one's colleague's opinions.
I've personally sat through an hour long <strike>argument</strike> debate over stuff in the PR as petty as whether a variable should be cast as a let or a const (an extreme example ofc), but it doesn't feel disheartening because at least you are being heard and respected. -
That's a nice blog site, and a good post to start off things. I know the struggle of setting up a decent blog, so you have my respect on that. Just keep posting stuff regularly at least for a while, and it'll be a good run.

Having something for leverage like a company laptop helps. They threated to do the same for me but then I just picked their company laptop and came back to my home town and almost got sued legally, but they were more than happy to let me resign in exchange for returning their laptop that supposedly held "confidential" code and information (It was jackass legacy React code that was only good for triggering someone's OCD).
If you have any such leverage available, you need to go for that. Otherwise it might be a lot more difficult. -
My boss at an internship long long ago had a similar idea with our jQuery project, but at least she understood the futility when I explained it to her, plus she was from a .NET background so I'd let her have the benefit of doubt of having worked in a very different environment
-
I was going to do that today as well but decided against it, for reasons. Kinda envy you, of course.
Just gotta stick with whatever you decide, no matter what it is. -
(2 x 2) x (2 ^ (2 + 2/2)) = 2 ^ (2 + 2 x 2)
-
(2 x 2 + 2/2) x (2 + 2 x 2) = 2 ^ (2 + 2 x 2) - 2

I feel you man. This red hot angry rant is indeed a an elgant expression of your frustration.

@HitWRight I agree with you. I wish I had the liberty to accept that and move on, but the circumstances are such that a month of work will go down the drain if the new feature does not work on at least Safari and Chrome on iOS, android and desktop.

Me (A Web Developer) and a friend of mine (Data Scientist) have been eternally at a feud by roasting each other for working with JS and Python respectively.

Bedrock was Microsoft's attempt squeezing out a lot more money from Minecraft than was coming from the Java version (mmmm in-built store for purchases, pre-installed on windows 10). And well, we all have our loyalties (I'm a Java player), but I feel like they did a decent job in leaving the game still enjoyable.
I'll probably not switch over to Bedrock because of the simplified redstone and other quirks that work better in Java, but I think that Bedrock is actually a fair deal for casual players who really are not invested enough to exploit the game to the fullest, and those who probably do not have the kind of beefy hardware needed to run Minecraft Java edition.
Also I can imagine my computer blowing up if they tried Ray Tracing in Java in such an already computationally greedy game, but that's just an opinion. -
Ever since I started working full time in a start-up with hectic workload, the (rare few not terrible) devrant memes just feel like a personal attack.
Lmao ouch. -
I find myself to be able to code better when stoned, but at the loss of most of my social skills. Worked fine when I was freelancing, but can't afford that now that I'm working a full time job, for a meeting might pop up anytime.

Had the same problem with Airtable card comments. The PM just told me to paste a link to a doc that would contain the content with the formatting of my choice instead. Simple workaround, I agree, but it would have been more elegant to just have some in-house formatting.

As much as I love the idea and would love to use it while I work, I work with linux so unfortunately this is not available to a chunk of this community that does the same :(

@Root problem is, everyone in the tribe needs to do the same, or it's all in vain and the one curious idiot will bring the plague to the entire group anyways.

My guess would be that the people who enjoy the mental stimulation caused by working with code also tend to enjoy the mental stimulation caused by intoxicants.
Of course this is a blind shot in the dark but with the kind of fuzzy correlation your two presented activities have(coding and intoxicants), this sounds like a decent hypothesis to me. -
I also have a very active sexual life. 🤡

I have a guess that these quotes by famous people encouraging risky behavior are disproportionately meant for the people who are more cautious than not, for the ones who indulge in careless risk-taking aren't usually in a stable enough position in life where they could do anything truly impactful. I know this is too presumptive and probably wrong, but just a guess that the risk-taking comes AFTER learning how to assess risk and step back when necessary.
