YouTube music is the whole reason I bought my first ever subscription on Android.
Google Music in my country was a shithole, and I always purchased a separate MP3 player that did the job much better. With YT Music it's a whole new world of awesome.
Dark theme, import library from your phone (you can upload your own stuff, just not share it publicly), equaliser, and YouTube level recommendations with background play capability. -
It's true.
We've tried multiple times to enforce a pre merge checklist as a bare minimum, but apparently ticking a few boxes is too much work, "cUz We mUsT dELivEr NW!1!1!!" -
I built a fully featured video conferencing solution based on twilio like this in 3 weeks, at the start of this pandemic.
For the first 4 out of 3 weeks I kept praying no-one checks the recordings, because they didn't work and were the primary requirement.
Learnt a lot about product managers' outlook, and the simplicity of twilio during this time. :D -
I'll be frank, you lost me at PHP.
-
This makes sense when used inside css modules for a body background.
That way your body remains the same colour in both modes, only transparent to use the system dark color background. -
What's really sad is that I prefer jira over any day of the week due to the lack of viable alternatives.
It's literally the only product that is developer friendly, and not built for excessive GUI, and minimalism loving PM's.
If all you want to do is drag and drop cards for a living, maybe work at a casino. -
You should be fine as long as you did not delete/were versioning your .lock file:

What's wrong with jira?
-
Some product managers are for life. :)

That shit gay.

Then you need to be in a David Attenborough documentary.
-
Sounds like an aggressive form of flirting, but what do I know.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
Are you trying to work the odds here?
2.5 of those commitments will hold, based on past data.
Choose wisely. -
Did she make you write this?
It sounds like she made you write this. ;P -
Won't have much of the same career if I quit games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Frankly, the whole field of QA in programming was created only for fitting into the whole manufacturing process mindset.
Usually I like to build a beautiful piece of software, and think through the various ways it could be broken, or exploited. Having said that, on a manufacturing line, if you're looking to speed up processes, you cannot have the same machine building something AND making sure it came out just perfect.
So you break it into stages, which can run in parallel, and validation can feedback into the build.
That's all we've also been reduced to, a bunch of machines churning out code on one end, with a bunch of other machines with a knack for detecting changes in a repetitive process on the other end.
Don't fret though, unlike a machine, you can learn skills that can move you between these stages, depending on where your skill generates most value for the powers that be.
P.S. QA isn't sexy to programmers, the same way programming isn't sexy to management. :) -
Have you tried introducing them in existing projects, for incremental adoption?
I found that particularly bothersome, naming files with a different extension (mjs), or adding the 'use strict' in every module file with Node 12. -
Not always.
I pick up something to earn a fuck ton for a while, then take the rest of the year off to invest in experience. That experience is what I live for, but it so happens that the next time I'm off to earn, the experience boosts the income.
It's a not-so-vicious cycle. -
Looks much better than @Haxk20 's sword for sure.
-
Usually it's best discussed among close friends.
I have a total of 5 such folks all around the globe, and any change in their compensation is a reason for everyone to party, or bitch about life.
Steps:
1. Make friends,
2. Fail miserably,
3. Meet more people, finally open up and become good friends
4. Ask them their salary
5. Profit -
@Haxk20 I just thought maybe if more people were interested you'd make it actually look good. -_-
-
That certainly makes no sense, but okay. Cool.
Btw have you seen @Haxk20 's sword? -
One of the things that helped me was asking my parents about first time parenting.
It seemed the more relevant question at that time in life, but since has become a more encompassing explanation.
After years of being dependent on their parents, and occasionally making decisions, and fucking up, or nailing it, life brought them a little living thing that they were solely responsible for as leads.
They fucked up at times, they knocked it out of the park most of the time. They were initially always asking their parents the best way to deal with a situation, but over time, they got the hang of it, and even learned to improvise brilliantly when needed.
Today they're the best parents I know, albeit a bit annoying at times.
There are great parents, there are fucked up parents. It's your choices along the way that define who you become.
Don't be afraid to ask when you don't know, and look forward to learning because your team is your baby. I'm sure you'll come out shining. -
Nice.
-
@orseji wtf, that's some creppy shit man.
-
@trogus that's my bad, settings allow you to disable complete avatars in the notif section. Helps me focus on the content.
Thanks for the awesome community guys. Your creation helped me through some of the most ridiculous times in life, and work.
Both of you kick ass, and will be remembered in my history book. :) -
@Root that's quite reasonable indeed.
Thanks for sharing that, I'm quite an avid follower of your previous rants in the same territory. :) -
Wtf.
-
@Root I'm quite interested in knowing what the response to drug use usually is, and more importantly, WHY?
-
This is great as long as it's for use within a completely personal capacity, or as a student (no one gives a fuck about students).
While free speech continues into the professional world, most serious client side folks would just stay away from such an appearance. It's like asking someone to trust you with their money while you're wearing a kimono over khaki shorts, with half your beard shaved off, and two piercings on your nose and cheek.
