Every time a local company shows up at my university and says they use JavaScript for EVERYTHING, the entire room erupts in groans, "no"s, and anguished looks. It's hilarious.
-
Not my set, but a friend of mine is a ThinkPad connoisseur. He tried lining up the command line windows across the systems, and amusement ensued.
-
And break statements, or at least according to one of my professors.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Disgraceful.

I eventually identified the attack as being from the ZmEu vulnerability scanner. I have password logins disabled for SSH, and the database has been cleared (the service hadn't even gone live, so I didn't lose anything) and set to only accept local connections.

There's a guy at my university who treats me like a middle schooler because I'm a sophomore, and he's a senior. He is constantly dismissive and uses a very snobby "matter of fact" tone. At first, I was angry, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that he can teach me a lot... about how not to treat others.

There were these two valley girls today in one of our student areas, and I swear, they could not have been giggling any louder. I thought the entire idea of giggling was that you were fucking quiet.

Or in CannibalJava, it's "Walter Tastes Funny."

Iirc, the "PC" and "Mac" distinction arose from the days when Macs were using Motorola processors and Windows was running on IBM PC compatibles, thus "Windows" = "PC". Of course, Apple then proceeded to goof it all up by releasing the PowerPC, which was still a completely different architecture from what IBM PCs were using. These days, though, just about everything is running on the x86-64 architecture (at least, everything we call a "PC"), so it is an annoying misnomer, but at least the origin is understandable.

This COULD be done a lot quicker in JavaScript, but honestly, I would have probably had a backend engine do it instead, so the website wasn't completely broken for users with their JavaScript disabled, or for users with those no-script screen reading browser things.
Although I would be lying if I said I've never done this same exact thing before. And it was painful. -
I've had both Windows Vista and Windows 7 get to the point where it would take them upwards to 5 minutes to shut down, even without updates. Nothing made me want to use Windows less. Never really had issues with 8 shutting down, although I have had Linux hang up on me with stop jobs a couple times.

From the phrasing of your post, it sounds like you already know Node. If that's the case, give PHP a shot. It's a fairly easy language to learn, and despite it starting to go out of style because of the "hipster" technologies like Node and Ruby on Rails, having PHP skills will make you more flexible, and more marketable to employers.
I also honestly find writing PHP code fairly therapeutic, because it generally does what I ask it to, and the docs are probably the best docs for any programming language ever. -
Nothing will ever beat Lynx, thank you.

"A problem that should not have occurred has occurred" is an actual error message I have gotten in a Microsoft product.
-
I actually tend to prefer complete silence when I'm writing code (or doing just about anything, which makes long car rides with me really boring). I'm probably going to have to wear ear muffs and a "tap for person" sign on my back when I get a job.

Those last 7 lines are coincidentally exactly how my HTML pages look when I try to write my own CSS.
-
One of their developers probably pushed something to Git with the commit message "I last edited this 4 days ago but forgot to push so I don't even remember what I changed."

Childhood:
I love Windows!
Adolescence:
Fuck Windows, Linux is where it's at!
Adulthood:
Fuck computers. -
Thinkpads are always nice for programming, particularly the models with the old style keyboard. The T420 has supplied me with more than enough power to make it through the day, despite being almost 6 years old now. You can pick up the (at the time) higher end models for $200 on Amazon. Just keep an eye out for the batteries. Mine was completely dead within the first month and needed replaced.

The gitignore is so effective that it even ignored its own name.

Sounds like Bob's macro game is pretty solid.
