Thanks all, great feedback - thank you

Was looking for advice on best GitHub practices really, so anything I put up might help someone else - not give someone extra headache!
Naturally, the ticky bit is finding some mini projects that others would find helpful or interesting! -
@lorentz
My job has a review from time-to-time and one of the things they like to hear about is how you may be contributing to the developer world outside of my work. They liked the idea of me having a few public repos of side projects, so all stand alone kinda’ work. -
UPDATE: ‘They’ have listened and have started looking to recruit a PM :)
-
@SortOfTested - thank you for the time you took for your excellent replies. You obviously have a good depth of understanding in this area, a clear and detailed overview. Thanks for sharing 🙂
-
Awesome reply @SortOfTested thank you. Do what would you say are the strengths?
-
Some sort of SCSI termination block? Proper old world tech 😄
-
That’s a depressing thought: that there’s more money in long term treatment than a cure so they don’t push resources for a cure.
-
@Root - feels like you’ve exercised Rule 34, I can’t look at Squirty Cream in the same way now 😬😆

I quite enjoyed this one:
Python Crash Course (2nd Edition) https://amazon.co.uk/dp/1593279280/...
But I also remember getting quite a lot out of doing the free courses at:

Ah, well I try and drink super strong coffee to pretend it’s espresso!
I can’t even taste tea anymore... 😆 -
@Fast-Nop - yeah, but I drink cheep coffee, so need to mask the taste. I tried to find out about ‘good’ coffee, but quickly ran into too much pretentious bollocks (like wine tasting!) so retreated!
-
You could sign up (for free) to https://www.codecademy.com/ and learn all you need to know to get you started. Some great beginners courses on there. Good luck and have fun!
-
Anyone ever worked with or for a company called pugpig.com? Might get them to do some work but wanted to hear any pros and cons from personal experience if possible!
-
I’ll just leave this here:

...equals no more ‘free’ internet...
-
Thanks guys, I’ll crack it - just need to find some quite time to read it over and practice 👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback! -
Sorry to hear you were treated so badly. Silver Lining though, you can take your awesome self off to a company that values and rewards hard work. You’ve earned it 👍🏼
-
You do, libraries.
Import* lol 😂 -
The answer is ‘no’ - write good code / the house-style. Stick to your principles!

@vane 😂

@codex404 - I couldn’t remove the ‘question’ tag from my post sadly. Probs a way to do it, I was rushing when I posted the above!

I got hold of a really good condition Celestron 102SLT. Did my homework, rated pretty well for the lower end costs. Really nice entry level scope :)
-
It’s not what you got but what you do with it that counts 😉
-
I had a similar situation a few weekends ago, I banned all of Amazon’s IP ranges, worked a treat 😳😅
-
“It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again” - water is no good for the circuits, best do as he says...
-
@DLMousey - that is a very accurate, real-life experience right there 😂
-
Sadly I’m not back in London for a while. London’s a great city to kick back in though. Check out Covent Garden area in the evening, pretty safe and always a good vibe :)
-
Maybe the job is selling ice cream at events...?
