@DirtyBit but yeah, I hear college is a completely different experience, my dad loved it. I'm kinda excited to see what it's like myself ^^
-
@DirtyBit oh no I graduated, I go to a vocational technical school. I originally went there through high school, but now I go there full time
-
@DirtyBit well how my school works is when you get kicked out you can come back in 6 months if the waiting list isn't too long. Problem is employers don't really even look at certs from here, so I'd probably be better off applying for college and getting an actual full-time job.
-
@DirtyBit progress. I didn't really know where I was supposed to be until the end of last month, kinda basing it off of when everyone else was getting things done, forgetting my quarters are only a month long, half the amount of most of the other students. And then of course my last quarter I'm far too busy to even be capable of catching up, especially now with the internship, which I'll have to take off the rest of the year for. I had thought I was doing fine because it seemed like a pretty natural pace for me, forgetting that I'm extremely slow. I probably just should have asked when my quarters ended so I'd have known when everything was due
I made a bunch of mistakes, I ought to be careful not to make them again -
"Can you take a look at the printer?"
The tech support thing wouldn't be so bad if people knew what they were talking about. I had an actual exchange about a year ago, in which upon asking someone about the operating system they were running, they replied "Asus"
???? Wat -
It does get pretty monotonous listening to that kind of stuff, but maybe because my opinions on those kinds of things are all shades of neutral.
In reality, all those things are a means to an end, and if someone is capable of meeting that end effectively, it really shouldn't matter to them what someone else thinks is better or worse. -
Oklahoma, $8.25 hourly ;-;
-
At least among friends, I've never heard a happy ending with preordered games (with like 1 exception)
Or anything bought during the period of hype right after release, for that matter... -
I feel between neutral and negative to it. I agree, it sucks. But it's a tool, nonetheless, and some pretty cool stuff can be done with it no matter how much we hate it :-)
-
I had this kind of scenario less than a week ago where I was working on a project and broke it because I had to rewrite the object class (hehe). I went to sleep, dreamed that I had fixed it, and within 10 minutes of waking up, was able to fix it.
Spent the rest of the morning playing video games B-) -
I almost kinda have to, because others in my class wanna see examples of how to do stuff.
I send it, and it either ends in me realizing I didn't suck OR telling them to not do whatever I did lol.
It can be good, it can be bad. -
That's the best feeling ^^

@wolt well what wound up happening was in a desperate attempt to get thw project going (because we were having very bad luck with getting Unity to even work), I decided I was just gonna go ahead and write it in Lua. All was going well. Today, two days from the deadline, I was probably about 70% done. Based off of that, it probably sounds pretty doomed to fail, but we're allowed to turn it in incomplete as long as it meets the minimum requirements.
Then I looked back at the documentation so I could prepare for the presentation. I pretty much got it halfway prepared.
Until I looked at the second page, that lists the programming languages we are allowed to use.
I had forgotten about it asdfghjkl
On the bright side, none of my team members are angry. Probably because I'm the only one who coded any of it (yet another huge mistake I made lol) -
I think there might be a simple solution to this student's problem...
Don't import the packages lol -
I remember this! The windows vista upgrade prank was probably my favorite
-
I helped a friend do the same thing to someone last year. To our surprise he already knew the layout though XD
-
@moshmage Your comment has really, really helped me out. I had felt a little embarassed about being the team leader and allowing progress to completely come to a halt like it did, but I've taken action, properly figured out each member's role (rather than just say "someone do this, one of you set up that" and nobody knows what they're doing) and eliminated the other things that were preventing us from progressing. I'm very new to working on a team (or leading anything), so this is all a learning experience for me. I really think we're able to do it now, thank you ^^
-
Aw shoot but. I write all my letters strung together. like every time I write click I look back and ehhhhhhhhhhh not gonna fix it THEN I HAVE TO LEND OUT MY NOTES AND EHHHHHHHHHHHH I HEAR THE GIGGLES AND I KNOW WHY

Comic Papyrus 😎
I am a horrible human being -
I feel like there's usually some assumption of the learning style of the individual in schools too, which makes it pretty difficult for a lot of students. I feel like there's a lot of potential to compensate for that with technology now but it hasn't been applied much inside actual schools :\
-
Yeah, I find it hard to stay motivated with mine too. This isn't the most productive way to do things, but I like to have another smaller project waiting so when I get bored I'll have one to fall back to for a while. It's kinda nice taking a step back from things for a while imo, really seems to give me a fresh set of eyes sometimes ^^
