@Codex404 Why you don't like it? I think the subscription model fits software very well, since it needs constant maintenance.

@gitreflog You include .Net Core when you say you hate dotnet? The standard library kind of go hand in hand with a language, no (unless you implement everything yourself)? By curiosity, what do you hate about it?
-
Never heard someone say they hated C#

Time to switch to a good OS

The big one skips leg day since the beginning of time.

@orseji It was the popular (only?) way to do page layout a long time ago, before floats and now flexbox/grid
-
@telephantasm I'm not addicted enough to know that :p

@gnulinuxer4fun it is open source, with permissive licences. Fuschia OS, build on top of it, is also. Git repositories and trace of the team's work (ex. code reviews) are easily accessible.
-
@gnulinuxer4fun well not linux compatibility, but it looks like it will also be a general purpose kernel (usable for phones, tablet, pc, etc) and will be a lot more secure than linux.
-
@linux what do you think about Zircon? Last time I checked they didn't accept external contributions yet, but I like to look at their code sometimes for educational purpose, because it's Google.. so it must be some fine work!
-
@oudalally old school C# (could use some 'var' and string interpolation ;)

It's the lowest temperature for the night, it can be warmer than during the day.

I like Keeweb, because:
- Free / Open source
- Uses the trusted Keepass formats
- Cross-platform (web app)
- Multiple cloud storage options to automatically sync everywhere
Cons:
- No mobile app, but a shortcut to the web app does the job for me -
Adding this line to ~/.npmrc :
prefix = ${HOME}/.npm-packages
Will let you install global packages without sudo (and permission issues) -
Arch (KDE). Require more time to setup but easier to troubleshoot after when you know what's up. But like others said, for a new laptop (with decent specs) I would probably stick to Windows.
-
KDE (some minor glitches, but feature-packed and not fugly out of the box)
-
Which DE? I had issues with video playback in Gnome, but it's smooth in KDE.. I don't remember if I tried switching to Xorg in Gnome though.. could be related to Wayland.

@Condor pacaur is now unmaintained, aurman is pretty good :)

@vityavv I take back what I said, the distros were the problem, Arch Linux + KDE is very satisfying!
-
Ubuntu LTS (official version). Every time I try another distro, I find myself going back to it.
-
@vityavv I just tried KDE Neon. After finding 2 horrible bugs in the settings app in 2 min max, I gave up. I think KDE have great potential, but imo it is not ready for prime time yet.
-
@vityavv I must admit I never tried this one, because some people said that things were breaking often, but I think I will give it a try and see for myself, because I like KDE overall :)
-
@vityavv yes, I must say that KDE is getting better with time and I liked it the last time I tried, but I didn't find a distro providing good defaults out of the box for it (which I think is very important) ; Kubuntu was the closest, but no power saving and suspend on lid closing for a laptop by default -> sad :(
