Well, Java can be quite a pain in the ass sometimes...

I think there are close to zero software development positions where a PhD is necessary. Unless it's development of some incredibly specific application involving a very exotic topic most BsC / MsC graduates aren't aware of, a PhD isn't too significant. When doing a PhD, you usually specialize in a specific subject, and therefore a PhD graduate may not know much more about e.g. machine learning than a MsC graduate if he did his PhD in information security.
"wonder if mcdonald's is hiring" - nice tag btw. -
While tidying out last week I found a pack of Cards against downtime too. Pretty nice game, indeed.
For those who are interested: The game was a giveaway of an IT company, but all physical copies are gone. You can still find a virtual copy here: https://go.paessler.com/hubfs/... -
Have you bought the pro version of NetGuard?
-
@Marethyun It isn't, that's why it won't compile.

@ananaszjoe This was meant to be taken ironically, I should have been more specific. I have really bad experiences with mixing callbacks and promises, thus I'd prefer anything.
-
Just write callbacks to check for the promise using try and catch. Repeat this for every promise of the chain. Profit.
-
That's how you implement a hugely scalable application without the need of unnecessary databases.

@david-hil Some context: The first println statement translates to "Boredom at work". Therefore it should print "Boredom at work? 404 not found".
Aside from the fact that it isn't the best idea to promote a software development position with an error code anyway. -
@tokumei The problem with new architectures: They only become successful in the costumer market if a new type of product adapts them (as smartphones did with ARM) or if they are compatible with a preexisting architecture (just how x64 was x86-compatible). Therefore I wouldn't bet we will see customer geared laptops or PCs with RISC-V architecture any time soon, maybe with the exception of SBCs.

A dating app, but instead of rating someone's picture, you rate their coding style.

KVM or OVZ?
If you're OK with an European location take a look at Hetzner Cloud, especially their 2GB plan. Elif you prefer a server in the US or Asia, Vultr may offer the best servers for your money.
About Contabo: They are by far the cheapest low-end KVM VPS provider, but you may encounter more issues than with Vultr, Hetzner, DO or Netcup. For example, disk I/O can vary a lot depending on the slide you get and server workload. If you don't intend to use it for very important stuff, it offers the best cost effectiveness of all KVM server providers.
For finding a VPS with more specific specifications, check out https://serverhunter.com. If you're interested in limited offers, take a look at https://lowendtalk.com. -
