Only upside is that my manager is going to be a cool guy I knew a while ago. So at least I won't have a shitty manager.
-
Got a lowball offer from these fuckers and they only gave me until Monday to accept. They are hiring me as a FE engineer instead of a Senior FE engineer. Well if I join I'll be doing lowball work. It's gonna be the first job where I'll actively try to cheat and work less hours.

I've been through a few layoffs but I'd go through a layoff again just to see the look of hypocrisy and defeat in his face.
-
I've never felt so degraded in an interview. Everybody asks about my job history but they are more polite. He was like "LOL your choices suck". Well I chose your company so what does that say about you?
Funny thing, I interviewed for your company 4 years ago and you rejected me but now that I've had more experience I reached the final interview stage. So you don't like that I hopped jobs but you like that some other companies paid me to learn and get experience. -
@b2plane Dude you've really suffered, I hope you got some help
-
Still hope he hires me though, I'm tired of interviewing.
-
Sounds like burnout
-
@Wisecrack I'm interviewing for an ai company that makes chatbots for enterprise but I just saw that Amazon Q was announced.
-
It's good in small amounts but it makes the core unreadable if you overdo it
-
I fucking hate the word impact.
-
@ostream What eldritch horror is that?!?!
-
@We3D Don't ruin my kinky fantasies with your vanilla sex
-
@retoor He had some sexy times with the vacuum cleaner
-
This looks like a very difficult job. You might feel bad now but when you're through with this, you'll have gained valuable experience.
-
Another update: I got an answer, negotiation failed.
-
Update: I tried to negotiate a week ago with the excuse that I had way more experience than the 3+ years they asked for in the job description. I adked for 12% more than their max price so they would offer something like 5-7%. They haven't answered and also changed the job description to say "significant experience" instead of "3+" years. It seems I've played and lost but I would regret it if I didn't try negotiating.
-
It's never going to get better. And if they give you a performance review they will gaslight you into thinking you don't deserve a raise. The bonuses management is getting? Yeah, they're probably getting them because they're saving the company money by not giving you what you deserve. Start looking elsewhere

My first job as a developer, I worked part-time and made as much as a part-time waiter, even though I had a uni degree. A regular waiter, not the fancy ones who work in Santorini and Mykonos. I've been working for more than 8 years and I've made a real developer salary in the past two
-
@SidTheITGuy My bad, I meant it was a double fail for the company! A double failure because they asked somebody to do what they obviously couldn't deliver.
And no I don't make millions, in fact I'm unemployed right now. I live in Greece, fucking Greece, we are known around the world for our debt. I don't live in the US with the 200k salaries. -
@ars1 Double fail
-
@coldfire That's a good idea. I met a guy lately from the next town that wanted to start a side business making websites. If my mental health improves I can do that.
-
I understand your perspective but let's look at it from the company's perspective. I'm in my late 30s and I would feel very uncomfortable working with a 13 year old, and not because of my fear that you are a better programmer than me (you probably are). You are young enough to be my kid. How should I treat you? If I lose my cool and yell at you maybe I'll get in trouble for yelling at a minor. At your age I worked a trivial job but I wasn't mature enough to work in am office setting. If you're good enough you can make your own product and sell that (or offer lessons to your classmates or something) but it's highly unlikely that a company would hire you.
-
Were they paying you at least 300000 dollars?
-
@netikras Maybe he codes in the WC or on the toilet, since he shits 10 million times a day
-
The plot twist is that this company is the employer of record my previous company used so they know what salary I made, down to the last cent.
-
Goddamn man, why are you so obsessed with shits?
-
It's definitely an object mutated somewhere
-
@TeachMeCode Hahaha, your comments cheered me up. No it was more something like "If you don't have time to do something, don't worry, just tell us. Oh you didn't do the thing? We reject you.". Anyway, that project is going on a public repo and I'm submitting it to all my other applications
-
Aaaand rejected! At least I can use this assignment for my other applications.
-
I'd everything is urgent, nothing is. Can they really fire for missing one launch date or do they just like complaining a lot?
